Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
Yes but when flying from CYYJ over Vancouver Island and over the islands on the way to CYVR.
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
Very bad transitions to terrain (mesh) as your aircraft approaches the area. It looks like you’re constantly flying towards escarpments which then pop into the expected land mass once you’re almost on top of them.
If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
I flew the CYVR to CYYJ route and watched this more carefully. In my previous post I said “pop into the expected land mass” which sort of implied the land in the foreground jumped up to meet the “escarpment”. Actually, it’s the opposite ~ as you flying towards the “escarpments” the terrain gets flattened as you get closer.
I believe the mesh transition to the next higher detail should be happening much further away from the aircraft’s position to avoid this.
I’ll check mountainous terrain in another area of the globe for comparison.
Can also confirm this occurs around CYYJ right now. I’ve seen this happen before rather rarely, first time somewhere in the Banff National Park back in 2020. Seems to be very area-specific, but not a completely new bug overall.
