TFDi MD-11 Released

They only released the -ER version for Collector’s edition users.

I don’t own the plane myself but I think you can set it up in the tablet (EFB) in the plane itself. So normally you would enter your username/user ID there and it should give you the option to download the flightplan into the FMC.

btw, if you haven’t found them already (they seem to be a bit hidden), the manual is here: https://docs.invernyx.com/en/md11/quickstart

here’s the systems overview and the checklists

It’s not possible. It’s either a bug or a missing feature, but fortunately it’s on the list of things that should be addressed in the next week or two.

In EFB, there is an option to link your simbrief profile. Once synchronized, options will appear to set the route in FMS, payload and fuel.

Thank you for clarifying it.

Where is the autopilot master on / off? I kept getting the autopilot audible alert over and over and had to use the keyboard command shft+alt+z to disconnect the AP, but can’t find a master switch in the cockpit for this.

The big black button labeled “auto flight”, below “approach” on the autopilot panel?

So autoflight toggles AP on / off?

I can say after completing my first flight in the MD-11, that it is an excellent airplane. Well done by TFDi. I had some concerns, but after flying it from KSDF to KATL today, I don’t even know what my concerns were. Performance is great on my computer, very smooth. All systems worked as intended, even though I probably screwed a few things up. Its definitely a different plane from the A320 or 737, or even the 777. If you were on the fence as I was, I’d say go for it. I had high expectations for an $80 addon (I bought both cargo and pax), and it’s met those expectations. Glad I pulled the trigger on this one, great aircraft.

No the autoflight button only engages it, to be pressed prior to the takeoff roll. (For autothrottle to take over after you’ve pushed the levers forward enough, you’ll hear a click when it engages and takes over. Pressing autoflight again during flight would engage the autopilot modes too.)

The yoke switch (autopilot disconnect button) would disconnect it, pressing twice would cancel the alarm.

You might want to check if your button-press is assigned to disconnect instead of autopilot OFF or autopilot TOGGLE. That would probably help with the audio.

Just a fun picture, as they’re now both out in the sim at the same time. (777F though)

yep, the cockpit is perfectly modelled and textured (besides some missing texture on some levers/buttons), the main fuselage is good, but the wings, engines and landing gears have P3D written all over it… :frowning: But the cockpit is great, and thats the most important part.

No time for a flight yet, so im just inspecting the plane right now and get familiar with the cockpit arrangement. Cant wait to fly this thing. But i hope the outside model will get a bit of an overhaul for MSFS…

Got it, thank you. Binded a yoke button to ‘Toggle Autopilot Disengage’ and it works. Press it once and it turns off the AP (but the audible alert keeps going), press it a 2nd time and it shuts off the ‘autopilot’ audible alert.

Did the same with the autothrottle disconnect command with a different yoke button to clear that flashing warning after disconnecting the auto throttle.

You are right in thinking the md11 is not yet upto the $70 mark yet. I don’t have the t7 but from what I have seen in the YouTube videos it is. But otoh, you get only one airframe with t7, but with md11, with a few extra dollers, you get 2, not counting the engine options.

The art update was kind of rushed just in the last week. We collectors didn’t get much time with it to provide feedback. I complained about a few things two days before release, particularly around the wings and tail, but was told that those will be fixed later. How much later, I have no idea. Fuselage looks good though.

Ironically, the wings looked better from a reasonable distance before the 1.0 art update, they had many more details, they were not really 3d, but pbr textures, but from distance they looked good. If you took the camera very close then ofcourse they didn’t look very good. But with the art update those textures got flattened and the details were supposed to be made 3d, which didn’t happen yet. Hopefully soon.

Do the reversers work? I’m not having any luck…

Yes. On the TFDi MD-11, you cannot activate full reverse at once like you can do on other aircraft. First, you engage the reverses and wait 1-2 seconds for the reverses to fully open and only after that, you increase the thrust. This is indicated on the instrument panel showing the engine parameters. While the reverse is in transit, there will be an orange indication saying ‘‘V/L’’. When it is fully open, the green ‘‘REV’’ indication will appear. This is the correct procedure to do on all aircraft, not just the MD-11.

If you increase thrust while the reverses are still in transit, you will accidentally engage full forward thrust instead.

detailed as in almost everysingle switch works, alot of moving parts inside and outside, complete FMC and EFB and presentation

Well, I guess custom hanger screens that I create for my thumbnails are out of the question. For an $80.00 add-on, I would expect the aircraft would at least present itself properly in the hangar and have visible landing gear. This, the almost impossible to adjust brightness slider in the EFB, weird wing flex, and funky P3D looking dirt and grime texturing have me feeling I spent a bit too much on this one. Small gripes, perhaps. But, I feel at $80.00 there’s definitely room for improvement.

Thank you for the response. I’m working on how to do this with Airbus throttles, so far my only solution has the reversers acting in unison, not individual control.

Hello, can someone comment on performance FPS MD-11 vs. PMDG B737 on mid-PC?
