THAT´S how they made wipers "work"?

Correct me if i am wrong, but to me it looks like making the wipers work in rain comes down to the sim simply depicting almost no raindrops whrere the wipers are supposed to be… even in a plane WITHOUT any

just for reference.

Searched for a topic to check if anyone else was thinking the same as me. I left it a while to give chance for updating.

Yes, I’m noticing it more now the glorious shower from the sky has started in the UK. There have been some updates since November but it’s still largely hit and miss and a lot of inconsistencies with seemingly upgraded and compatible aircraft:

Fenix - works (I think the effect was a lot better in an early update they did?)

PMDG - works (777 at least I think)

Just Flight RJ - doesn’t work, even on latest big update

Ini A330s - doesn’t work

Ini A321 - works

Ini A300 Premium edition- nope

Asobo 737Max - works

Asobo 787 - nope

Lots of other default aircraft - nope

Other people would argue this isn’t major, but I think it is, especially when trying to taxi at night in a rainstorm. And yes, the wipers are working in terms of removing water, but the effect is meh.

I mean, even Train Simulator Classic originally created in like 2008 have better rain effects than FS2024 created in 2025?

Well I am with you. If rain, or any other weather phenomenon for that matter, is considered non essential in a flightsim then Asobo, please make the next iteration completely arcade in the first place. That way I know at least to stay away from it.

Yep, I’m almost certain when Fenix first released their compatibility update back in December/January, I distinctly remember the rain wiping effect being much better than it is now. I vividly remember going, “oh, finally!”

Asobo must have tweaked something along the way, for what reason I don’t know. Either way, the effect is now pretty much what we’ve had in 2020, a filler effect. I looked forward to flying in the rain.

Devs, please look at other titles: XPlane, TSC, The Bus, TSW, numerous racing titles, the list is pretty endless.

What I’d personally like to see (and I don’t believe it’s much to ask), is the wiper takes rain off, but behind the blade drops start forming again, until the wiper returns. I really hate this “turn on the wiper, rain texture is removed from the area completely, so as you can see wip3Rs wOrk!!1111” thing we have at present. It’s another kick in the immersions.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a reason for me to uninstall the sim, it’s just another missing jigsaw piece, one seemingly so simple given the aforementioned titles doing it with no issue.

Could it just be a limit of the rendering engine? Really?

IIRC the Fenix airbuses do that. With the wipers on it seems to just not render all the rain effects on the portion of window the wipers cover. Which is fine, id rather that than it not work at all

Likewise, and hopefully the effect gets improved. Or who knows, maybe a modder will one day do it but I’d argue a lot will have to do with the SDK. I’m not after something akin to Drive Club, like physics based water droplets , that will kill performance, but just something that looks realish.

I live in hope that one day my wiper dreams will be realised. Anybody reading this, please know that I am sane :joy:
