The Asobo/Microsoft VR TEAM

Is it such a team active ? If it is what is the VR team doing/working on at the moment. Just curious as I have not seen any betterment or improvements for a long time in this department. Any clarification much appreciated.

There has not been one question about VR in the last 3 Dev Q&A live streams, So my guess is they really dont care about VR right now, Such a shame, As i love flying in VR and every sim update breaks something for it that never seems to get fixed.

How we can elevate this and raise as a question at the next live stream ?

In that case can the Microsoft Community Manager get involved and ask directly the developers for any information ?..then get back to us please.

I agree. They need to put some emphasis on VR.

I directed a VR-related question (broken scaling of toolbar apps since SU12) directly to a Community Manager to get it into the latest Q&A. Unfortunately, this reference was removed by an admin as pinging a Community Manager is forbitten according to the Code of Conduct.

The question was not raised (as was no other one on VR).

They only allow questions to a specific topic for qas these days. And even then the votes seem to have no bearing whatsoever as to which ones Jayne actually asks them during the streams. I’ve given up on voting or submitting questions. Better chance just hanging in chat and a mod randlumly picking ur q no matter how irrelevant.

The VR team got absorbed into other teams. There is little to any consideration for us VR pilots. I wish Xbox got a a vr Headset because as soon as it effects Xbox everything gets top priority.

With all due respect most of us invested heavily in this simulator let alone the expensive gear to run in …particularly in VR, so yes we should be heard, hope someone is reading this !

I fly DCS exclusively in VR and it’s another world, really. MSFS doesn’t look bad at all but the difference in quality and usability is huge. In MSFS they had some great ideas for VR and started to implement them and then stopped midway like if someone said to stop spending time/money on it. One of the worst fauxpas is the ridiculously pathetic supression of the logbook when shutting down. It’s a pity, really, this sim shines through its beautiful world and in VR it would just become even better.

Unfortunately it’s 100% up to the community to move VR forward at this point. Asobo has made it abundantly clear they simply don’t care. The silence is deafening.

Don’t get me wrong I fully believe the community is capable of great things. We have A LOT of very smart people. But at some point it would be nice to get some acknowledgment from Asobo that they do recognize us.

Wasn’t VR Experience one of the reason why Asobo were selected to develop MSFS 2020 in the 1st place ?

(Or did I dream that … it was a LONG time ago, when much was being said, that did not end up panning out )

Whatever happened to Holo Lens ??

Didn’t there used to be a specialist team, dedicated to VR, which was then disbanded and spread to the other development teams, supposedly with the aim of integrating VR improvements into each and every one of the other teams’ output?

There are times when such management changes appear to yield their intended outcome(s) and times when they don’t, depending of course on whether any of the intended outcomes were genuinely to be to the benefit of VR users.

The best laid plans of mice and men ?

The peeps that were around when MSFS was first released, will remember that VR was not included at all for a number of months.

VIRTUAL REALITY is so last year – now its all about the METAVERSE as the latest technical and social fad …|

( and bottomless money hole.)

At least it was, till ChatGTP raised its tempting head, and got everyone looking at Artificial Stupidity, based on the misinformation on the Internet.

I don’t think so. The popular narrative is that it wasn’t even supposed to support VR, but leading up to launch, this was heavily critized and so they started implementing it very late and enabled it about 3-4 months after launch.

Yes, this is exactly what they said. Worked out GREAT. It’s so sad, they should really focus on VR more.
