The broken 225/03 wind discussion thread [Extremely Concerning]

Hello, I care about real worldly weather and wind…

How can this be a simulator without real wind that works and weather?

Especially after all they promised and over delivered in their developer videos all over youtube and social media about wind and turbulence that covers the whole simulated earth?

Without weather and wind frankly, this is just a video game for young kids.

No one wanted to pay for that…

I don’t know anything about the pre-release issues/bugs. I followed along but wasn’t part of the beta process. No one was supposed to disclose anything as a condition of NDA, and I never heard about this issue. I suppose it’s been an issue for a while. But the shear scale of what they are trying to do is so immense. I am amazed at the depth of things they got right and working. Understand here, the scale of the planet vs. any other sim at this level - just to get the scenery to where it is is in my mind, a total breakthrough. Sure - you need a good system to run it and see it in full glory. X-Plane and Prepare are MILES BEHIND scenery wise. If X-Plane tried to draw what FS2020 is, it would simply crash. It isn’t capable. I can’t speak about Prepar3D beyond videos I’ve seen because at $200, it won’t ever happen for me. I am too cheap to buy Office here. We are less than 2 weeks in to a launch. Asobo promises a patch soon - maybe today. Give them a little leeway here and let’s not overreact with ‘they probably are afraid to tell us.’

I still don’t see what the big deal is anyway. Wind works fine, just not live winds. I just did a flight in cross winds deliberately at my local FBO. I couldn’t use live winds if it was working because live winds are 3-5 knots outside tonight for me. Boring, and not what I wanted. The beauty of the sim is I don’t have to wait for the real to match my desire. I wanted 15 to 20knots. And guess what - thanks to the other features of the sim, I can dial that up like ordering a pizza.

Sure. I will forever be tainted by watching what they did, and said, over the past 4-5 months (I dont remember exactly when I got in).

The incoming patch has nothing to do with this issue according to the patch notes. While I’m thrilled that theyre working to resolve the install issues and other get up and go problems, that doesnt negate the fact that this is a long term issue that hasn’t even been acknowledged (it actually kinda has but they wont let you see what their response was).

I’m happy to give them time. The only genuine “this is ridiculous” issue I have right now is the lack of VNAV. Live weather is of little concern to me at the moment. The only time I’m going to care about live weather is when I go to fly on vatsim. That’s not going to happen until either they fix their avionics or someone comes out with a redesign of the current systems/a new system. My guess is the latter will come first. Figure thats probably 6-9 months away so I have plenty of leeway to afford them before it becomes a true issue to me.

I will remain actually annoyed that there is a blockade between the weather and 3rd party devs.

Close, but it’s 225@03…

I bought a brand new car and the navigation system didn’t work so I just held my phone the whole time and used the GPS on my phone. The engine stalled every mile but I used it as an opportunity to pull over and catch up on some reading. The doors wouldn’t open once you’re inside so I just pretended I was a NASCAR driver and exited and entered through the window. The passenger door window wouldn’t go down so I just used the driver side window. Exhaust fumes were leaking inside the cabin but I just used it as an chance to try out a rebreather I was interested in for scuba diving. When it rained the windshield wipers only worked intermittently so I was glad I was able to finally use my stored bottles of Rain-X I’ve had for all these years. At the end of the day, there’s nothing wrong with my car because I know the manufacturers will do what they can when they can so I’m enjoying at least looking out the window at it when I’m not trying to trace down some weird electrical issues.

Just to lighten the mood hopefully. I too am bummed about the weather bugs and lack of acknowledgement on issues, I get install issues are a priority and I’m cool with that but some communication they are aware of these other issues that to some of us, it matters because weather is a big part of flight planning.

Anyways enjoy the meme.

And here I am, thinking ActiveSky was obsolete. Coming soon: ActiveWind. Exclusively for MSFS2020. For the wind we’ve all been craving.

This post was beautiful, it made me shed a tear mate!

People love to throw the word “core” around in this forum, almost seems obsessive.

Guys I think the broken wind is definitely known by the devs at this point.

I’m sure they are working on it, and the upcoming bug fix patch list does not list everything as said in the dev update (“along with other bug fixes and improvements.” - August 27th dev update).

Obviously I cannot guarantee it’ll be fixed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. It could also be a server side issues, which would mean they are fixing it separately from the patch update.

One thing is that it’s not at all working as advertised. The much bigger problem (and this is a very big deal) is that we’re not able to fly on VATSIM or IVAO, simply because there’s no common ground regarding the weather with the other pilots and controllers. And they also advertised their partnership with VATSIM if I remember correctly.

Yeah, no, of course they know it. It’s been reported since Tech Alpha according to my sources. They can make our “whiny” post go away easily by admitting that there’s an issue and promise a fix in the next couple of weeks or months…

Communication is key.

As I read all 55 of these posts, I realize this original post wouldn’t even exist if Asobo would acknowledge the real weather being broken and communicate with the public about it. Even saying “we’re aware of a real weather issue for players and are actively searching for a fix”. The fact that a backlog mention is all that was mentioned is baffling, leads to speculation and anger in many,

Yeah there’d be no reason for any complaining for a flood of Zendesk reports if Asobo would just acknowledge us and admit that there’s an issue. ASOBO, just say something!

There was a backlog mention?

As for many other key issues (and I am not talking here of the occasional missing airstrip, or wrong buildings, or trees invading a road or the like), this would definitely be worth at the very least a communicate from the developers, acknowledging in front of their customers the mistake and offering a solution. It is called commercial follow-up, and given the amount of problems and the number of complaints, I would suggest Microsoft to start thinking the way to give all us customers from day one (or should I say, al least in my case, from day -30) a commercial compensation (a part of course fixing the pending issues that make a “simulator” what it is, and not an Arcade “fly-around” game).
Personally I find it frustrating that I have been attracted to purchase the Premium Deluxe version for the B787 plane, only to find out that it’s the worst of the lot, surely not worth the +50ish bucks I dropped on top of the standard version.

I chucked this a retweet.

I agree with the above sentiments - A lot of of the angst and frustration here, is largely because at no point, no-one official has come out and said “We’re aware of this - We are working on it” or “Thanks for bringing this up, The team are investigating a resolution”.

It’s just been complete silence from the Moderators and Developers. I’ve worked in the Service industry for a while now and I know that silence will aggravate customers to no end. No-one likes being told something is wrong and there’ll be a delay… but I find if you tell them straight up, They can’t pull the “Why wasn’t anyone told” and can even be appreciative of frequent updates as a situation evolves. (Comparing my work with this is a bit of a stretch)

If the issue is linked to another bug - Come out and tell us… If they can’t work out what the issue is, come out and say it’s being Investigated (or “Triaged”) for a resolution which may take a bit longer, but it’s definitely receiving attention.

As I pointed out on another thread… I’m not really that phased about Achievements or ‘Under-developed Aircraft’ (which I won’t really fly anyway if the weather isn’t realistic) or even oddities with sceneries/buildings with incorrect shapes/textures.

Not properly implementing the weather, however, in my mind, is probably the single biggest issue on this platform as it stand and until it’s acknowledged and thrown into the known-issues list, or there’s a response from one of the senior developers on the countless threads on the weather system, these 300+ post threads will continue.

People can try to fly in Europe and South Korea for test? Apparently it works spot on according to
@HumanePrince517

Not the whole Europe though.
