The dreaded stuttering is back

I just downgraded to 23h2 and it has cleared up for me.

I cannot rollback to 23H2, but I’m trying a new strategy:

HAGS OFF.

Problems seem solved. GPU (4090) works at 100%, no stutters, temperatures are cool, simply I obviously cannot use Frame Generator, but performance seems so good that it shouldn’t be necessary.

I’ll do other tests; probably 24H2 doesn’t work fine with HAGS in some cases.

I was still getting the stutters with HAGs off.

Maybe it is seriously hardware-dependant. Anyway, 24H2 is really problematic (on another machine of mine, videos as movies played on VLC lightly stutter too).

Here another victim of the stuttering causing the fenix A320 to show erractic V/S on the cabin altitude, causing it to increase cabin altitude to > 10000 ft.

Now testing fs2020 with the fenix on WIN10 and no stutters found sofar and cabin altitude showing normal values.

So indeed WIN11 24H2 seems to be the culprit here. Will continue for now testing on WIN10 but very interested in a fix for this one so i can return to WIN11 24H2.

And also here on a pretty high end system (9800X3D, 64Gb DDR5 running at 6000 and RTX3080).

Same for me - yesterday i checked for updates, my PC downloaded and installed 24H2 - since then i noticed stutters (i had that weeks before also). Then i read, that you can roll back to the previous version (23H2) within 10days.

Did the rollback to 23H2 and paused all updates (for the next weeks, don“t know if i can stop that update forever, don“t think so) - now the stutters are gone.

Would appreciate any hint in how to stop my PC not updating to 24H2,

Greets,
Markus

Please share your thoughts with us after updating your system to version 24H2. Your feedback will help other users decide whether to upgrade—for example, from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Who knows, maybe someone will even figure out how to stop the Windows 24H2 update.

Again i made the update to 24H2 (blocking the update is no solution for a long time period) - so the stutters were back as before.

I tried many things and i found a SOLUTION for my PC:
What did the trick was disabling HAGS (Settings/System/Display/Graphics) - now it is almost as smooth as on the previous version 23H2

I made 2 Testflights with almost no stutters, so i hope that problem is fixed (at least for my setup) - perhaps it helps anybody else facing the same problem,

Disabling HAGS, will disable the frame generation isnt it ? (On a rtx 3070)

Yes, thats what i read about it - i don“t use it, so no worries here on my side (i have a 3080Ti and use MSFS2020). I know about the FG Mod, but to be honest, for me it is very important to have a smooth and fluid motion instead of xyFPS - my system is locked at 30FPS, so therefore disabling HAGS and not using FG works on my system (until recently i always had HAGS set to ON for years, but with 24H2 this workaround is the only thing that stopped my sim from stuttering).

But again, i hope MS gets that issue fixed with updates and we can use all sorts of performance tools Win11 is capable of (including HAGS and FG set to ON),

Been having really bad pauses lately in ā€˜20 so I’ll revisit HAGS, but I didn’t think it was an option for folks with a 5000 series GPU.

No good if you want to use native frame gen, though. You need DX12.

Also in my testing, disabling HAGS did not get rid of my stutters, if anything it made them smaller but more frequent.

Thanks, HAGS off seems to solve my horrible sttutters (almost unplayable, long stuttters with noise) since a few days ago (windows get udated) , I formatted the system but it continued the same, until putting HAGS off and it went back as smooth as before (24H2 , RTX3090)
