I have searched but have not spotted any reference to using the original Oculus Rift (not the S) with FS2020. However, I have seen a YouTube video showing the original Rift working with FS2020. As with the Rift S, there is a black box visual problem, that can be fixed ‘oculusdebugtool.exe’/ ‘use FOV stencil’ change from AUTO to OFF. I have not tried VR with my Oculus Rift but from what I have seen, its OK. Hoping to upgrade my PC hardware soon when supplies are better, and may get another VR headset.
I have the original Oculus Rift and confirm MSFS works great in VR with it (so long as you make some tweaks).
I also have the original Rift and it works well. In your Oculus software go to Settings > Beta and enable Public Test Channel and that will get rid of the FOV mask.
There are a few essential tips here …

Works great. This is a recording of the left eye view through OculusMirror. https://youtu.be/qp7Su2V6GyI Got a 3 year old GTX 1080 behind it.
You might need to tweak the settings a bit. I’ve been slowly pushing the VR graphics parameters up. Somethings are still a bit off, but it’s good enough.
