The reason why Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Have So many glitches and instable bugs

Since 18 Aug 2020, The official release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. It has been thorough one year and 6 months. We had fun, Experienced the world, Helped us during Covid-19 pandemic and lock down. As a Player, I want to say thank you to all worker in Flight simulator teams :smiley:

But, when we had fun, there are lots of bugs and glitches appears simultaniously, Crashes, Optimization, Aircraft model and System, IFR, VFR issues, seems these kind of Bugs will never end.

Lets be fair, think about this, Battlefield 2042 and cyberpunk 2077, The team of these two games Keep delay, and The final result was, ’ Mostly Negative’ on steam. So, compare to bugs and glitches, MSFS team already shown the road map of development and will solve serious problems As soon as possible.

Some of you might ask, Why GTA 5, minecraft, those kind of games does not have many issues, We need to understand msfs 2020 has opened a new era for PC gaming. And this is the First game that has a map 1:1 ratio to real world, this Huge game will have bugs as well.

Another thing is 4K optimization, Although 4K gaming has already been up for few years, it still not quite developed, and the optimization for 4K gaming is extremely difficault.

So please be patient to the msfs teams, there will be bugs, but as you see, the team is trying its best to solve the problems for us:D

I agree with you, but you and I are probably not having the full range of problems many others are, and people like/need to vent. But my main point is - do we really need yet another thread like this as there have been soooo many already. Cheers.

Yes, It is annoying, I hope the Nvidia 40 series, DLSS, and optimization, Even new edition will fix this :smiley:

Just a small note, games like GTA, how many years we have between each release? A lot! This is why it has less bugs. Many other games, they rush them too much to be published and the results are the one we know…

I don’t want to sound overly negative,but first Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 already had not only complete world coverage, but worldwide navaids in the sim. The graphics are the main selling point of MSFS rather than world coverage (which has been standard for a long time in flight sims)

It also is nothing new for new games to have bugs and issues, but lately it seems like developers are a bit too eager to get to the ā€œrevenueā€ part of game development, releasing games that arguably should have been more throughly tested and fixed (of course modern games being more complex than ever doesn’t help), Cyberpunk being by far the worst offender, but even playing FH5 is not exactly well refined and polished. And while I am not too familiar with Asobo’s policies, it seems like some updates have issues which wouldn’t have been to hard to spot, for example the wrong temperature at high altitude and problems with live weather.

Also some of the 3rd parties developer I’m following feel like each Sim Update is not well enough refined, and 3rd parties have too little time to fix/change their products accordingly, and basically each new updated it a coin toss on wether or not their product will be just fine or completely broken (I.e. DC Designs Stearman, all the HUD before GOTY, the smoke effects on the MB-339, etc…)

Yes I agree with that, and battlefield 2042 they delay and delay and they cannot even fix some basic bug and then come out and grab money

Very good point, I played in beta mode , normal mode, normal beta developer mode, beta developer mode ect. (too many). I found out sound bugs and glitches were only appeared in normal mode but not in developer mode and test mode.

And As you know, some times before the official release off some bug event and update, there will be insider release for community. But sometimes, They insider version’s bug cannot appear into normal version, and some bugs in normal version cannot be found in insider or insider developer version, and also according to the different system setting, graphic card, Even windows system version, Nvidia driver ect. Too many reason for causing bugs and glitches.

That is the reason msfs website has a strong community discussion, and msfs team is always focus on community a lot.

But I think 40 series Nvidia graphic card and DLSS Will help this a lot :smiley:

But it’d not the BIG world that is the problem, its the Technical Aviation details that are just plane incorrect, (see what I did there :wink: ) and the instability of both the SIM, and its frequent updates/downdates.

Not the Big World, but typically just the ā€œLittle Planeā€ or ā€œLittle Airportā€, or Little Marshal who looses her baton, or the little Weather radar that stops scanning.

Just think about how many brands of computers with different mother boards, RAM, Graphics cards and settings that MSFS has to assure it will perform on as expected. The graphics and the numerous calculations that are being performed every second are mind boggling. I think we need to cut them some slack for a product that continues to grow and impress!

I’d argue we have at least 90% or more of what you get in the base sim of P3D in MSFS. how long has P3D been around? Either folks are not at all familiar with P3D to understand the achievement Asobo have done here, or, they are impatient with what they think they should have in a just over 1 year old, brand new flight simulator. P3D was not immune to major issues during the first year of release either. And, every time they release a new version, maybe once or twice a year, stuff breaks and developers have to update their programs to match the latest release. Nothing new here.

Errors in any game are inevitable.
But low-level mistakes are very disgusting.
For example, most of the problems in this worldwide game actually come from core language problems.
This will cause different problems for players in different countries…
It’s as if I have a problem but you don’t..
I haven’t encountered any major problems in playing this game for a long time.
But since I bought the air race, I can’t enter the competition game.
In the end, it was found that the problem turned out to be the coding of the language system..
When I turned on the language system to support utf-8,
the air competition returned to normal..
But after turning on utf-8, there is a problem with the navigation..
This is a very low-level error…
A game does not have a unified core language support…
In the end, the officials themselves were busy fixing various errors..
Endless reincarnation.. After one problem is fixed, more new problems will appear…
If the core problem is not solved, there will be endless problems from all sides.

I play cyberpunk and battlefield 2042 when I need to take a break from MSFS and honestly, those 2 other games feel so polished and requires little to no effort to keep running and updated COMPARED to MSFS.

I still love MSFS though. It really is just a chore.

I’d much prefer to have Asobo take a break from introducing new features / World updates etc and just go to town on fixing what we currently have until both MSFS is good to move forward with but also has a stable SDK platform for the third-party developers, which MSFS needs going forward. Both these (Bugs and SDK) need fixing and completing before add new stuff.

yes, their bugs and fix released very quick, but msfs bug took a relatively long time to fix so I am actually pretty disappoingting about this

Yes, I strongly agree with you, but to fix those bugs needs a long time, but those bugs and releases normally wait until next sim update, so, a little bit too slow

Yes I agree with you, but bugs always exist. But we just dont want those stupid bugs come out for example, physics issue caused us cannot fly ect. These are silly bugs and We Dont Want it to appear !

Yes, and most of computer cannot reach the maximum FPS due to optimization.

Does not need a long time, currently takes long yes due to way of working. But if more time was given over to bug / SDK fixing and TESTING and forgetting new stuff, they could do a two weekly update (Download or via server).
