The Rock of Gibraltar

It has been a long time since I visited Gibraltar on the sim and the scenery is impressive but (and it is a galaxy-sized but) what on earth (or MSFS Earth) have they done to the rock?
It used to look fine before as a texture map draped over the rock (with obvious shortcomings but none too noticeable). But now it has been clad in what seems to be gigantic droppings from some seabirds the size of a town. It looks insane - like some old style Nintendo game has collided with it.
I can’t find a setting to tone it down or remove it either.

And we now have the new ((and very good looking) universal textures that give any steep slopes a convincing rock face which hides the stretched textures. So there is no need for the ugly great lumps of fake rock that destroy the proper shape of this and other places it is used (some of the new textures visible in places as well and looking much better).
Hoping they will remove them

Thanks - just downloaded it and about to try it. Looks good. Beats me why Asobo havent got rid of the ‘porridge’ themselves - no need now and it is just cluttering up their database - along with all other places they splatted it onto

Hooray! As of a week ago they removed the ugly false blobs of ‘porrige’ from the Rock and let the new steep textures take over making it look almost 100% real. That was in '24 and I have just noticed it is now also in '20.
Well done Asobo - now to complete things - you sucessfully removed excess trees in '24 so how about also in '20?

there is an update to the trees coming in su16
hopefully this will mean less of them

It was posted on this thread that Asobo “Sucessfully removed trees in FS2024” I wish! I have seen no changes - the huge 300ft (measured on the altimeter) redwood tree that I wrote about weeks ago is still blocking the approach to KTVL R18, Lake Tahoe. BTW no redwood or any other tree that size will grow at that altitude. Just one of hundred thousand totally inappropriate trees in both 2020 and 2024. Personally I’d like a “no tree” option. I can do without trees while I’m in the sim.

Come on Asobo, how hard would it be to make a global change to all airport runway definitions that would clear any growth for about 1/4 mile at end of ALL RUNWAYS?

Sorry people - they didn’t remove the ugly white concrete/porrige splats that spoil the Rock Of Gibraltar. I doenloaded a fix that works on both sims and forgot I did. However it reveals that underneath is the new very ‘believable’ textures for steep rock faces that hides the stretched ground image ones.
So there is no excuse for Asobo to keep the ugly addition to this and other ‘corrected’ rock faces.

Underneath the ugly 3d rocks, better than the new cliff texture, it is actual photogrammetry.
So yes, they should definitely remove those fake rocks, even if Theolid’s fix on flightsim.to does the job.
