The SU5 hotfix: what a good and simple solution should look like:

Absolutely zero chance !

It’s a double edged sword. Things are tweaked for XBox, but we get new stuff as well, and some of the XBoxers who just fancied a game will become keen pilots and buy things like PMDG jets, boosting demand and thus the creation of such.

They already got your money. And mine. And that of thousand and thousands of PC simmers. And now that of thousand and thousand of XBox players.
So the issue is: How much money came (and is coming) from XBox players? Is it more, a lot more or humongusly more than that PC simmers paid? Or is it equal? Or less?
Money makes the difference, no matter how many votes you collect.
Sorry, it´s all business!
P.S. I downloaded SU5 but had little time to fly it, so far 1 crash (first since I bought the game, August 2020) after 30 min and a complete flight with FBW A320 with no fuss. Still early to give opinions on graphics, I’m fiddling with settings that were zeroed after download.

It’s very simple.

Original product: I bought a bike with brakes.
New Product/Update: I bought a bike with brakes and in order to make it go faster Microsobo took away the brakes.

I don’t care how they fix the problem, I don’t need to tell them anyway. The problem is obvious, bring back the brakes because that wasn’t the correct solution.

Bugs or not, SU5 is faster and smoother for me. A big improvement.

As for “they got your money” that’s nonsense. I paid £59.00 for the software and allied service. No ongoing costs.

However, I paid well over £3500.00 for hardware to run it on, and a few hundred pounds for odd bits of software to use with it. And then there are subscriptions.

No, the amount I paid to Microsoft is trivial. Perhaps if it cost ten times as much…

  1. No, 2. No, 3. No.

Thanks for clearing that up!

A bike without brakes is unusable.
A sim with slightly worse graphics is not (the CTDs are to be fixed with an update just 3 days after they appeared).
Your analogy doesn’t work.

Ill vote to bring back SU4. I have just spent the last 5 hours trying to fly. I havent even gotten off the ground yet. Constant CTD’s and my yoke and throttle aren’t working all my previous settings have been altered and what ever I do I cant seem to get to the runway before the game crashes. I am so +%$# angry right now

You should rather vote to wait 5 hours unil the hotfix for the CTDs is released.

Maybe you should take these 5 hours to relax  It’s just a game…

It’s like FSX all over again…

very true I also really enjoyed the look outside my cockpit but try to move the aircraft or steer it the stupid sim crashes. With the hardware I am running I never had this issue prior to this new update. this game is now ■■■■

I am almost 100% sure that having separate code bases is not going to happen. I’d say 100% sure but stranger things have happened in life.

It is also not the “simple solution” you are saying it will be, for them to suddenly just roll back all these changes and change strategy to maintaining two different versions. They will patch as many of the bugs as they can with this hot fix, and then work towards possibly more fixes going forward before the next big update.

They did mention previously they are looking at putting a “beyond ultra” setting in for high end computers, so you may have to wait for that. But I do not see any scenario where they suddenly undo all the changes they’ve made and commit to two different versions when their entire plan until this point has been to be only maintaining one may code base. And as I said it is certainly not an easy proposition for them to even consider doing that from a practical view point.

A bike without brakes is perfectly usable until you need them in certain circumstances, people in The Netherlands are masters in braking without brakes  however you get the point. Also it’s not about something working or not, it’s about you bought a standard and then it’s downgraded.

I’ve never seen a BMX that has the brakes still on.

They are sold without brakes or people mount them intentionally off. See the difference?

I get the point that you just wanted to exaggerate, which simply doesn’t work in this case.

You bought a pretty cheap product with the proposition of probably 10 years of updates and you already got a huge amount of new content. Show me a bike that is sold like that.
There will always be ups and downs, including XBox servers not being reachable which also renders the sim unusable etc. That’s the way a service sim is.

I was replying to your blanket statement of:

“A bike without brakes is unusable.”

I don’t agree with some of the analogies in this thread but I wanted to replicate the pedantic nature of the current course of this topic.

Taken out of context. Well done.

I see no further context in your post or others around stating you were talking about bikes that shipped with/without brakes.

Are you referring to the questionnaire that came up during loading the game. (for best performance based on your hardware they recommend these settings …you have these external devices connected… etc etc) if thats the fix it didnt work. If there is another I hope it does the trick.

I bought the premium deluxe and I don’t care how much it costs. I do care when the original product is downgraded. Development is about making things better and not worse. Better FPS in change for less scenery unless you’re flying right above it…
