The world map has become redundant

When the sim first came out the world map was useful and worked. Previously it would automatically enter the information for ILS approaches etc, to save time entering everything manually on the flight system. It would also have a magenta line to follow - the one you planned in the map.

This all seems broken now to some degree. Why are features of this sim going backwards?

It’s still working okay for me. Usually IFR plans are super easy. Is it the navigation system having a problem?

Apart from the map freezing and the cursor getting “stuck” in white boxes when selecting a gate/runway or airport, everything else is fine with the map…

Yup, working fine for me. In fact, the only improvements I’d like to see are the enormous airport labels hiding your flight plan, and the giant black slabs marking the runways.

Apart from that, no complaints.

You’re kidding right? The world map was woeful in early releases. You’d just zoom into a featureless green blob instead of the detailed satellite imagery you currently see.

Do you mean redundant or obsolete?

Oh, have they fixed the fuel/weight data etc resetting every time you open that field? Did they add back the ability to finely adjust time/fuel/weight etc values or is it still the clumsy UI cludge introduced around SU5 that can’t possibly work for Xbox or PC users?

I have heard there is added marketplace advertising too. I guess that works though right?

NOT for me.

My main complaint is when you click on an airport, and that box appears you can often click through it to an airport hidden beneath, making it harder to “Zoom to details”, and so on. Another QoL fix just waiting to happen.

As far as the map being “redundant”, I don’t agree with the doom, and gloom sentiment of the OP. It has issues, sure, but is certainly usable.

Still has some uses. I use The Map from RemoteFlight - Flight Simulator and X-Plane gauges for iPad and iPhone. On my Ipad. Works GREAT!!!

If you are on Xbox then you wouldn’t have seen the UI prior to SU5 when fine tuning these values was actually easier with keys and mouse and probably don’t adjust those parameters before every flight for a 3rd party career mode add-on where finely adjusting fuel load, CG, payload etc is required.

That those values then reset to default if you revisited any one field was a complete pita when setting up a complex flight…and it was whether this had been fixed or left buggy that I was asking about.

I find the map a bit flaky, it used to zoom in on an airport when selecting a departure, it doesnt do that anymore, for me anyway, I have to zoom in using my mouse wheel and yes, I too find the massive labels hiding airport features a pain.

Or to score our next lady.

Works as always for me. Except for addon a/c that won’t accept flight plans from the world map I see no advantage to using Simbrief, although I have used it several times when necessary.

The only issue I have is it occasionally doesn’t show the flight times once departure and arrival airports have been selected.

Or as Basil Brush used to say, “Don’t get your panties in a pandemonium”

“Boom, Boom” … That really dates BOTH of us !!

Yes I was going to post the same thing (Boom Boom) but thought it would just show my age.

Are you using the dropdown to switch between IFR/VFR/etc? I think that’s what I had to do and I may be wrong but I think that was added, or reordered, in a later update.

Unless I’m just nuts and don’t know what I’m talking about. In that event I’ll just shut up lol.
