it has been a month since the xbox release, everyone has done the challenges and now ther is nothing to do except fly aimlessly until the next dlc drops. why is there no missions or career mode or any sense of progression whatsoever? there is a racing dlc coming but there is no way to tune airplanes? why is there no livery editor? are they even trying to keep players engaged because I am bored and, among most others I presume, will be uninstalling the game until they make it worth playing.
It’s a flight sim not a objective based game.
Flight SIMULATOR!!
It is a simulator - you cant compare it with an fun racer like Forza Horizon… jesus…
I have both PC and XboxX, so I’m in both camps. Your post will be interpreted by some of the more flight sim oriented players as evidence that all xbox users want is another ‘game’, and that they have no interest in flight simming in general. I’m not commenting on that, just wanted to mention it in preparation for what is to come.
[edit: as I was typing this, other comments popped up as predicted]
Guess you’re missing the point of what MSFS is about …
xbox GAME pass
I find this simulator hugely entertaining on Xbox.
I have made my own ‘activity’ by making an interesting route which I’ve embarked upon. I’ve done the training and two bush trips, but for me, the joy is simulating flying over places I’ve been and not been.
That’s not to say I won’t welcome further activities in time but the core of this experience is a ‘flight simulator’.
Being bored isn’t a fault of the simulator, it appears the OP prefers something a little more structured.
There a enough Xbox User who are appreciated Flight Simulator as Simulator. Like me.
Please don’t flag him. That privledge is way too over-abused on this forum. Just laugh and use this guys statements as proof who is dedicated and will support this platform long term if MS plans on making this a long term project.
Not saying they aren’t out there. I don’t feel as some others do about XBox. But I am sure it is a fact that a larger share of those on XBox will be the gamer crowd.
The simulator does not require dedication, just a willingness to enjoy the skies to a complex or more rudimentary degree.
The ‘Xbox crowd’ should absolutely be catered to in the form of training and activities that help them to learn how to do it.
Everyone should be catered to in the form of interesting activities that suit a simulator by being fun.
I don’t expect the Sim to cater to the OP as with due respect their boredom threshold appears to require a different kind of game.
Than it doesn’t fully simulate aviation. An airline pilot has an objective. Fly that cargo from A to B and get a paycheck. 747 pilots are not just randomly flying around.
You can fly anywhere in the world. Make your own challenges. What else do you need?
No, I think your logic is flawed. There simply aren’t enough ‘core simulation’ enthusiasts to justify the cost and effort.
Fortunately, a detailed simulator that satisfies the hardcore can also (with assists and activities) entrance a much langer audience (and it’s that combined population that MS/A are chasing, and rightly so)
In any case, I thought the point of this thread was the OP being bored, and the consensus being that it was down to the OP not the sim itself, rather than 'let’s beat up Xbox and Xbox owners (again). ![]()
Please remain on topic.
The reminder was not directed at anyone specifically, but to all that have an inclination to post here.
It is also a Sim on Xbox… so what ?
I agree, there’s nothing wrong with tiers and progression and I’m sure some of that will happen. What may be problematic is that the ‘hunger’ for such activities from the OP may be well beyond what a flight simulator can rationally and reasonably deliver. The sim has only been out a month on Xbox and I feel I’m only scratching the surface. ![]()
I think that you might be oversimplifying aviation a bit. As many have said, this is a flight simulator, not a traditional game. You are correct that many pilots have assigned missions (jobs), but many do not. Someone who if flying the general aviation aircraft included in MSFS may actually just be going up for a ride (like I used to IRL) or going somewhere for work. You can make your own flight plan in MSFS quite easily. That goes toward you comment about airline pilots - if you want a mission, simply choose an airliner and two airports and go for it - you can choose the routing and whether you want to fly instruments or visual. There are also 3rd party applications that allow you to fly for a virtual airline, etc.
