Let’s try to be better than that, guys. At the moment it’s difficult to have access to the sim, we know that. I’m trying to sharing info for Xbox pilots that don’t know how the game runs. One positive thing: the game still support an unlocked framerate mode for those who have a 120hz monitor.

Those of us who are frustrated aren’t even concerned about the loading times. that stuff gets fixed. It’s the half baked sim that’s the problem – airports look terrible, gates aren’t even connecting to the buildings in some airports. This isn’t 2020. There are no more excuses.

A lot of us did pay good money for this game! $130 for a game is not cheap, so I expect it to at least let me into the main menu so I can continue getting my settings established!

You really cannot argue they did not know what to expect, as they knew the preorder numbers, how many users are typically on right now in flight sim 2020, and they should have known it would be much more than that on launch day.

They should have been more prepared!

I’m not in yet so at the moment my best bet is searching info around the web. Anyway, it’s really hard to judge a game performance wise so heavly tied to servers and connectivity during the release day.

I’m not arguing nothing, it’s just a video for Xbox users who wants to know how the game runs on Series X. It’s so difficult to talk about that in a post created for this very specific reason ?

I don’t get this either. OK, so the servers are overloaded. But why can I not get in to play around to update my settings and explore the new GUI?

Spoiler: the gui is worse

buy pc ,fs is originally not a console /twitch game,if FS 1.0 dev was here…

This gives me some hope. It didn’t run that good this afternoon. Even the interface was extremely slow. Maybe the interface is streamed as well.

Well… in 2024 we have half-jetways, graphically incorrect airports, AI Traffic from the 80s, “thin clients” (who DOESN’T have a 1/2/4 TB SSD these days?!) that get streamed, and, oops, sometimes overload. Maybe some more times. We’re not sorry. Oh wait, another game-changing feature: broken interface. I didn’t forget.

I wouldn’t want to buy a PC, I junked my last gaming PC 15 years ago. I find PCs to be a heap of stress and nonsense. I’m very happy with my consoles.

My first impression is that MSFS 2024 looks objectively worse than 2020, on Xbox Series X.

First, the screen tearing. 2020 has v-sync on, 2024 seemingly doesn’t. Go to a big airport in an airliner and the image wants to fall apart. Second, the shadow maps. Aircraft shadows are so low resolution that they literally flicker under the aircraft, I saw this with a small plane like the NXCub. In 2020, aircraft shadows are sharp. Here they’re just a blob. Cockpit shadows, the same. Way lower res than in 2020, they’re just blobs inside the cockpit. I didn’t expect raytraced shadows on Xbox, but at least 2020 quality shadow maps.

The foliage is much better, sure, with all the 3D trees, but in turn the image is more aliased, almost “cartoony”, feels choppier than 2020. Honestly a bad first impression and I don’t know how much of this can be clawed back in the future.

thanks for the vid, looks alright to me. but ill see later for me specifically once I install the sim today or tmrw on my xbox X

Has anyone else been seeing jagged edges on airport runways and taxiways in XSX? Graphics felt like a downgrade from FS20 and I have a 200mbps connection. Also the clouds I felt were too rounded and soft on the edges when compared to FS20. Seemed too “cartoony”.

Another comparison video. No comment.

I was watching a stream from easyjetsimpilot last night, he was on PC with high graphics settings, and it looked quite average, blurry and cartoony at times. I think once things have settled is the best time to compare things, as servers are playing a huge role this time.

I posted this on another thread. I’m on PC, but I launched in at default EGPF and there were jaggy low res lines on all the taxiways. They didn’t improve closer up either so not a streaming issue I don’t think, although my broadband isn’t the best at only 30MBit/sec. Just nasty and low res though. Same goes for grass. No grass, just default satellite imagery beyond the jagged edges to the taxiways. 2020 had grass here.
Also IMO quite a soft/blurry looking landscape from above. I’m so used to 2020 being quite sharp. FS2024 just isn’t it would seem.
