This is how MFS 2024 runs on Series X

It just means that it can deliver up to 60fps, which I’m sure at times it can.
Games that are optimized for Xbox X/S have ways to boost frame rates , load times and other tricks to make things run smoother with better visuals. MSFS2020 never had the “Optimized” label as it was not designed for Xbox. MSFS2024 was and has this designation.
Of course this might take the developer team a few years to really take advantage of the features. Usually games get better as they go on Xbox.

So we get what we get for now with a hope things will improve? I personally have gone back to FS2020 until a few patches.

I think it is actually, the sim clearly wasn’t designed to run at 60fps on Xbox, it barely achieved 30fps most of the time. The ‘unlimited frame rate’ mode is not a true 60fps mode, and they can’t advertise it as such. First of all, it’s not enabled by default nor can it be activated directly within the sim, you have to set the Xbox to 120Hz output to use it, which means you need a VRR screen. Second, there’s no actual 60fps cap. And last but not least, they didn’t say ‘up to 60fps’ they said ‘60fps’ implying that the game, by default, delivers a near-60fps experience consistently, which is not true at all, and for those without a VRR screen, it can’t even go beyond 30fps.
I also remember that in one of the last dev streams, they said that the target is indeed 30fps

right. Microsoft team - how about a hot fix? don’t let us linger another full week, 3 weeks post release to get meaningful changes

I didn’t see anything in the changelog related to an Xbox issue so I’m not surprised

Ive tried the LB+B with the LVFR A330 and it got me in to the cockpit :+1:

I should’ve said “targeted” at 30 fps. I rarely would get up to 60 fps on Xbox Series X on MSFS 2020, to say anything above that, and it appears 2024 is the same or worse in that respect.

There are sceneries on MFS 2020 in which the framerate is even higher than 60 fps.

I did a 5 hour flight in the FSR500 that went very well this morning, departing from Spain and landing in Morocco. The scenery looked very nice on descent/landing. The patch seems to have helped a little bit, didn’t notice too many issues with the draw distance but then again I was in the middle of no where with no real landmarks.

With some of the positive news above from the Airbus being stutter free I think I’ll finally try the A400M tonight.

Again, as someone with hundreds of hours on console, I rarely if ever saw it approach 60 to say anything of beyond it. Either way, it’s rare enough that advertising it for 2024 in the way they do is not appropriate.

Is anyone else frustrated with using the UI with a controller?

I really miss being able to move the cursor around with the stick. This is especially frustrating with the free flight screen where the left stick still moves the globe, but I can’t move the cursor from the center of the screen. The right stick does not do anything.

Am I the only one having this problem? Am I missing something?

I’m not telling the way Microsoft advertise the game is good or fair ( it is not ), but framerate wise if you have a 120hz monitor + VRR usually you’re way above 30 fps. It’s even in the video in the first post of this thread and it’s exactly the same in MFS 2020 ( there’s even a video of Digital Foundry covering that in 2020 ). There are heavy areas in which you’re pretty much caged at 30, others 40+ or even higher than 60. It’s all over the place and is strongly tied to the plane you’re using, the scenery, photogrammetry on/off and weather.
But honestly, who cares. The main problem of the game is the absolutely ridiculous draw distance, not the framerate, the aliasing or some blurry textures. Today i wasn’t able to see Rome from 10 miles away ( i was at 1500 feets from the ground with a cub ), one of the biggest city of Europe. Mark my words, they will not cover it in the today livestream.

Nothing fixed here. Missions still just freeze. Needs rebooting.
Asobo managed to sink to a new low on this release. No testing done. Game largely unplayable on series x yet they released it ! Embarrassing, lazy, incompetent game developers.

Came back to see if things had improved in the last few days. Whatever was in yesterdays patch has made things much, much worse. Can no longer complete 172 cargo missions, get a CTD on every flight. This game is cursed.

Agreed, Xbox should rephrase it as “up to 60 FPS”. It’s not 60 FPS if it doesn’t consistently achieve 60 FPS. I’ve never seen GTA 5 or Black Ops 6 dip below 60FPS on console before. That’s because they are at a fixed 60FPS rate.

Yes but if the console struggles with meeting the target frame rate, it will dynamically reduce the draw distance. In order to maximise performance. As draw distance directly affects FPS.

Xbox Series X. Latest update has fixed the various Airbus aircraft which is great.

But detail loading distance needs a lot of work as it’s astonishingly bad; dark grey, solid rectangular blocks move around the airports (buses - see screenshot below passing under my wing) and the pushback tug has the worst of all. You have to be close enough to not be able to see anything else for any detail to load in on them. There is absolutely no way that this is as good as the sim can do. Runways are blurry until you are pretty much on them, static aircraft appear out of nowhere just as you are turning into the gate, taxiway signs appear as you are passing them, the list goes on

I cant speak about free flight because i wait untill the mp opens up so we can finally have our addons back, but the Career mode is going pretty good here.

In fact, im going to appreciate the the things they have done in the graphics/ lightning departement. Under the right circumstances, it’s looking pretty awesome.

I just also wanted to mention the relevance of available RAM on the consoles. This is a major factor in how MSFS 2024 performs on console. On MSFS 2020, it was much better because it was less demanding on memory. There were still memory issues with MSFS 2020 on the Xbox Series S/X, which caused the black screen bug. Even Asobo advised back then not use 3rd party addons because of the memory problems.

It’s even worse with MSFS 2024. It eats RAM for breakfast. I tried MSFS 2024 on my PC on the LOWEST settings possible, and it still consumed more than 16GB RAM. That was with the Piper Cub at Orlando Airport. I then tried the 737MAX, and that was easily consuming 20GB RAM.

For context, the Xbox Series X only has 16GB RAM in total, and that is shared RAM as well. The Series S has only 10GB RAM.

Keep in mind, the minimum RAM requirement is 16GB for MSFS 2024.

So if you’re on console and you’re experiencing a lot of freezes, crashes, stuttering especially when using a passenger jet, it is likely the result of not enough RAM available on your console.

Additionally, stuttering and freezing in-sim will probably activate the dynamic LoD setting to reduce the draw distances.
