This entire MS store ecosystem is so pathetic. They really expect people to buy from it. Compared to Steam and other big launcher/marketplaces, it is really poor.

Would someone be so kind as to explain how to install the update? Iām in the Microsoft Store, and Iām not offered any update.
Some people say you have to go through Xbox. Okay, but which Xbox?!
In the MS āDownloads and Updatesā section, I only have āXbox Game Barā and the black Xbox logo (I guess?) next to which it says āGaming servicesā.
What should I do, please?

Yes, that little oversight in the instructions will be difficult to forget.
Furthermore, i dont understand the need to āgoā anywhere for the uodate, considering we are already āthereā on the āChecking fir Updatesā panel anyway.

I concur, but nothing Asobo can do about it. Itās MS domain how they mess things up here.
I have to say I made a wise decision not to buy this from MS Store. I feel sorry for all of you who did.

This is the first time I am unable to fly the sim. UP until now updates were fairly smooth but today itās a nightmare. I keep starting it and it loops to force me to go to an store and then starts again and goes back to the store with no option to update. I gave up and hope they go back to the updates running automatically when I run the game. I am so sorry I fell for the marketing hype and ever purchased this sim.
But your issue has to do with MS Store, not the sim itself. I would recommend buying it via Steam.
Agree with all of these points. The update instructions were/are poor. Where does it say that Xbox app is needed, Why couldnāt the upgrade check for the Xbox app and automatically install it, if it was needed.
Finally upgraded FS2020 - now however my A320 FlyBy Wire aircraft doesnāt work - or rather it does but its invisible. The game starts but leaves you in mid air 20ft above the runway with no flight deck panel or aircraft around you. The engines are running. Default aircraft seem to be working ok.
Anybody got a fix for the A320 FlyyWire???

Do you have the Xbox app installed?
Sometimes, assuming you have the patience and the time, it is beneficial to do a complete reinstallā¦.painful I know, but we are in lockdown still, so might as wellā¦.that is Saturday taken care ofā¦
PS Last time I did a reinstall after a major update, the game certainly was more stable, and smootherā¦or maybe that was my imagination playing tricksā¦
I use steam and had no problems at all, Iām glad I didnāt use the MS store from all the complaints I read here.

i donāt understand what the problem to install this xbox app, if need then need, but why nobody nowhere said about it? only in the forum i does know about this stuff, then could update, in other way i donāt see big problems with other updates, i had heavy path to install this game, uac disabled, same problem was to buy something with marketplace, and if i remember thatās it, any way itās all right, but would be no bad to have must have table for manipulations with msfs, when we have to enable uac, when we have to install something new, etc. itās just confusing, when you found things like this, itās ok for me, as i have pc long time and know for sure, itās not needed to reinstal something, or there no any serious bugs, and 100% is something like windows settings or lack of some soft or and libraryā¦ so i forced to read forum, but other people because of that things waste much time with reinstalling, uninstall addons, and make so sadden moves, with pain in heart and head, why? so as i said not big deal, just little mandatory - what settings change in windows, what software to install, and whatever else we need to do for avoid those little problems
Knowing Microsofts track record, i would NEVER voluntarily reload any of their products. I will simply wait until i have no other choice but to reload, when one of their updates hoses your system to the point of death. Until then i will risk āgaspingā but still breathing.

Okay, it is ridiculous that you have to figure out yourself what hoops you have to jump through to get a piece of software updated.
No āUpdateā option under the 3 dots, The āmanageā option did absolutely nothing.
And donāt ask me how I finally got to the āUpdate ALLā option, as I have no clue what I did.
What a frustrating mess did Microsoft provide us. If it throws off avid flight simmers like me, how do you think newbies to the flight simulator world feel. They will probably throw in the towel and never look back. Moving on to other, more user friendly games/simulators .

This update was a nightmare for me. First having to sign out and back in to the Xbox app to get the download to work (only finding out via the forums after half hour trying to get the update to work).
Then, I got to install the main update fine but when I tried to update the Austria, Germany, Switzerland content my PC full on BSOD.
Only way I could get past the checking for updates screen in the sim after that point was to uninstall ALL the content that had been updated that day, totalling 90GB of data. That then allowed the sim to get past the updates screen. So had to redownload all that data again.
So tried to update the WU content again then just before it finished, another BSOD. This time though starting up the sim again after pc recovery allowed me to finish downloading the content again (another 1.5GB).
Finally got all that sorted after three and a half hours.
What gets me is that Iāve had one blue screen crash in the year and a half since I built the pc yet somehow MSFS managed to give me two in a short space of time.
100% agree ā¦ Uninstall, start re-install, and go to bed ā sleep well, knowing in the morning, you will have a clean Install and no "GHOSTS left in the machine " from older versions.
PC version. I do not understand the trouble. My routine before every call of the simulator:
- Windows Update, wait for installations
- Store update, wait for installations
- Update graphics card, check whether the driver is still up-to-date, wait for installation
- Restart computer
- Start the game
Effort, but thatās why I donāt know your problems.
Yes the update process is rubbish, took me 20 min to get to download stage.
Microsoft please get it right next time.
Also please with the DVD edition I bought, in 2021 still have to put the install disk into dvd drive just to run the games each time. The game developer said Microsoft insisted on making users do this.
But really putting a disk in each time makes Microsoft look ridiculous.
