Kind regards,
Microsoft Flight Simulator Support Team

I reached out to MS and created a ticket. I reached out to the forums. I followed every step that they suggest and I basically get an acknowledgement that there is a bug but it’s not a big enough deal to look into it so it may or may not get fixed and if it does, no idea when.

To me that is unacceptable.

MS version of kind regards is my version of them bending me over with no lube.

edit-ONE MONTH LATER (It’s now Aug 7th but I can’t make a new post b/c I’ve made the last 3 in a row)

After several back and forth emails to logitech, as well as MS/Asobo, more than one month later button 31 is still not working

MS’s latest suggestion was for me to verify my xbox services were set to automatic instead of manual. A few were set to manual, so I changed them to automatic as suggested. Still didn’t work.

They then told me to

  • Find the config file “UserCfg.opt”
  • Right-click on UserCfg.opt
  • Select Properties > General tab
  • Uncheck Read-only

Except “read only” was already unchecked, so, to date button 31 has still not worked with MSFS. That button is in a very convenient place and would make flying easier/more enjoyable.

If the button itself works fine interfacing with OS, then as workaround you could use universal game controller programming software to assign the button to either a keyboard key or a button on virtual joystick.

Options I’m familiar with (though there are others):

JoyToKey: very simple to use program that would allow you to bind the button to a keyboard key. Technically payware, but with the WinRAR business model i.e. it asks you to buy it but keeps working anyway.

Joystick Gremlin + vJoy: has the extra hoop of finding the right version of the vJoy app (for creating and managing virtual USB controllers) to use from GitHub, but otherwise nearly as simple to use. You’d bind the key to virtual joystick with this. Both are freeware.

Both programs would need to keep running on the background, as usual with this kind of middleware programming software.

Im not sure if this is right section but I am brand new to MSFS just installed it from Steam on my PC. I have an X52 Pro Hotas and it seemed MSFS recognized it but then I noticed the buttons are not working but the joystick and throttle do work. I looked at the default profile and it looked right but for some reason buttons not working at all. For example it says button 4 will take me to cockpit view but when I press it there is no response. Cant wait till i can get it working!

Any help is greatly appreciated.
