Time for and old fellow to find another hobby

Had the same one but with four colors on my Atari ST  was in 1986 I think  memories…

Love it! MSFS for Apple Macintosh - April 1986, actually, but my first-ever flightsim (and the first thing I ever saw in it!) Thanks for posting!

In a lot of ways I think I got more enjoyment out of that sim than anything that came after. Mastered VOR navigation with the help of Charlie Gulick’s adventure books and some real-world flying books, too.

It was sort of like a radio play - you had to use your imagination - but that made it really compelling.

Sir, if I could I’d buy you a beer, and the youtuber too. Thank you so much for pointing this out to me :+1:

The “repair” thing he explains at 6:10 made the trick for me. Now the launcher “launches” itself :joy:… Just have to wait for the 40 Gig to download and at least I will be able to try and see by myself.

Again thanks for the words some people dropped here. It was very kind and encouraging. Maybe I will stick around this hobby for a little more time afterall

Sir, the difference is that for the poor performance you could have always upgraded your Pc one of these days, so it was mainly an issue for people with low spec machine…honestly on my Pc I never had significant perfomance issues. For the scenery is another story. Asobo is forcing all of us to play with a low scenery setting and I think is not fair…also cause scenery was one of the huge difference compared to other simulator. So, “just because it looks better”…yes for many people is like this and also looking at the advertising it was the message from ASOBO

“Putting looks before anything else” That was how they first started showing of the game…all visuals…now we’re supposed to ignore what was great?

just about to write my reply to the clown with the " i put looks before anything else " comment then i read you reply and you said it all :clap::clap:

we are gamers, we look for performance and visuals anyone that games and says they dont care bout visuals is lying, especially as you say flight sim 2020 is ALL about visuals, it promoted it self on LOOKS, a whole world full of looks, hence why everyone brought the game for its…you guessed it LOOKS

Hip Hip Hurray !
We’re so looking forward to your future enthusiastc Posts recounting latest Adventures and such.
Kind Regards dear Sir.

No you simply dont let them stop at that… You keep pushing for the best!

Empty? lol there are tons of Ai…just like in…oh wait I had to turn it off cause I got a CTD lol Still better! LOL

Ok, austin  Must be true if you say it! Haha

From old guy to another. Don’t give up. I’ve been able to fly with the new update. I may be more computer savvy than other old guys since I’ve been around computers since the first Radio Shack TRS-80 came out, but don’t let computer problems keep you from enjoying your hobby. If need be ask for help with specific details here or with a someone in person who can help you.

Imagine being the flight engineer sitting in the Cloudmaster in the middle over the atlantic on the flight engineer panel - you would not give up either if an engine would fail.
Never give up!
Everything except highly complex third party addons should work flawless without any problems, please specify the problems so I can help you out a little bit

In my sim nothing has changed after the update except that the community folder was in need to be removed once to launch, everything else works perfectly just like as before (but of course all the Garmin mods etc. are updated now). No re-installation or anything was needed.

I heard the third party DLC planes did not work for one day or two but this is normal after such a huge update, the patches will follow soon.

FS2004, FSX, XP11 etc still work. If you were able to enjoy them 10 years ago, why not now?

River Raid for the win …

I, too am a long time user of MS Flight Sim (since FS5.0) and work-wise, have since retired after 42 years of work in the aviation industry.

I had not experienced any issues with MSFS2020 until this latest “patch” came out. Based on what I read in other posts, this was not really a patch but rather a means to allow MSFS2020 to work in both XBox and PC versions.

In the aviation industry, my company provided regular software updates on aircraft systems whenever necessary. What was learned over many years of software development and qualification testing was that it was better to release a fix for a limited set of bugs/ problems, rather than attempt to fix everything in one fell swoop.

I believe that MS/ Asobo are attempting to fix too many issues, then release them to the public as a single patch without having been properly tested. I would rather see small patches done at more frequent intervals whereby a few issues were corrected, then move onward. The testing could be more thorough and there would be fewer hot fixes to rectify what was supposed to already be a final fix.

Walk before you run, as the old saying goes. But, I don’t work at MS/ Asobo, so I don’t know if something like that would be even possible.

We aviation and aviation software guys expect too much from this game. Asobo is a game studio, and they treat it as a game. They have a completely different understanding of accuracy, quality etc. compared to us aviation guys. We expect a simulator built by aviation specialist, like X Plane, but Asobo is not Laminar. They have no passion for aviation, they are making games.

Aviation guys HAVE to get it right or somebody’s life is at risk. Safety of flight has to come first. I was an avionics tech for 35 years. Just whisper the words “Safety of flight” and all heck would break loose. Yes this is a sim, but I bet there are plenty of Asobo employees who are passionate.
