MSFS2024 takes more 6 minutes to launch. It’s normal ?
I’m alone with this state ?
Thanks
Everyone faces it, I wonder if they fix it.
I don’t think this is completely normal, in the Tech Alpha I was in the main menu under a minute.
I’ve done a lot of quit/load since the login queue was fixed and my times from starting the sim to the main menu vary between 2:15 and 2:45, mostly hovering nearer to the 2:15 mark. This is around double my usual 2020 load times.
what is the "VFS Activating Packages” state that takes so much time ?
is this loading time linked to computer performances ?
My load times have been steadily degrading over the last 24 hours. Currently in the range 2:45 to 3:15 averaging around 2:55, and yes about 80% of the load time is taken up with the activating packages phase.
At the moment, given all the issues that are a direct result of the “thin client” model, I have to say that it is a bust…
Aaaaaand the degradation continues. Last load took 3:55…
the situation is worse with the update. To pay 2 days before the release, technically there was no problem.
They’re laughing at us
Not sure if it is me but this morning it took me over 25 minutes to get from start in a plane to find no instrument texture, no liveries on onther planes and FS5.0 ground textures. So I decided to exit and forget it but even closing the sims seems to be too complicated. What a huge pile of problems. I did not have any fun with it yet. Back to FS2020
Still not able to either get into the sim or career mode in any reasonable time.
On initial load it just takes forever to load languages (what does this even mean??) and activate packages for some reason, on trying to load career I’m just stuck with an eternal black loading screen.
It’s one of the most frustrating experiences I had with a ‘game’ so far, for sure.
E: and now it crashed, trying to load into the first lesson in career mode - after waiting for, I dunno, 15min? to get that far… so I’m done for today with MSFS 2024.
what scares me most is MS’s self-satisfaction :
Good news: we’ve made continued improvements that provide smoother access to the simulator. We have also deployed a hotfix that further increases stability and addresses the player experience by fixing critical issues. We will continue to investigate any issues and keep the community informed. Thank you again for your ongoing support and enjoy your time in the skies.

Seems like people are getting quite varied results. For instance, here are my start times. I started the timer after clicking PLAY in the XBOX app on PC.
- Various splash screens took 1m 2s. This step can be reduced to 42s by eliminating some of the splash screens. The method I use is the “Fast Launch” option in MSFS Addons Linker but I assume there are other ways to achieve this.
- Progress bar took 1m 56s
I chose free flight in a Cessna 172 and searched for KJFK, then clicked Fly Now
- Time from flicking Fly Now until the Ready to fly button was available: 1m10s
Ignoring the time I’m interacting with the menus, it was 4m 8s from launching the game to getting into the cockpit, with the potential of shaving 20s off that using the Fast Launch option described above. I’m in the UK, not using a VPN (anymore).
Yeah they’ve already switched to damage control mode, it looks like… at least for me that’s so far removed from the reality I’m experiencing it’s honestly a bit insulting.
I’m sure, given time, they’ll sort it out eventually… but for now, I can’t recommend this piece of software to anyone.
I’ve never seen loading time faster than 30 minutes…
Once loaded everythings ok, but 30-50 minutes?!.. sheesh.
I’m lucky because i’m about 6-8 minutes to start sim
When I was finally able to beat the “Login Queue Boss” my load time to main menu was consistently around the 2:15 mark. Since then I have noticed a worrying trend. My load times have been steadily increasing by about 20s per day and currently average around 3:30. For comparison my 2020 load time has consistently hovered around the 1:00 mark for the last year or so. Wasn’t one of the selling points for the new architecture improved load times???
I hope that this trend can be reversed - the consequences going forward if not are dire…
For me time to launch the sim is more and more bad.
I think i have lost 100€
Load times seriously…MSFS averaged 15 min to load. So very pleased with MSFS 2024 load times
about 4 mins.
My 2020 load time was a bit over a minute, 2024 is currently sitting at 3:30 and gets a bit worse every day.
3.30 min including all 3rd party extras?
My PC is not low end
I have over 2 TB of data for MSFS
