It is incredible that a company like Microsoft, with all its financial and technical capabilities, is not able in 2024 to organize a smooth launch of a game worldwide… this is like “it seems many people are connecting to our servers, Oh Oh Oh…” Is that you Santa Claus ?
Come on guys…
It’s our own fault though.
I continue to give them money and reward their behavior.
So many posts over the last 6 months that commented on the risk of the approach that MS / Asobo planned to take.
All of the issues we are now seeing could have been avoided (no not hindsight) by careful planning, beta testing, staggered release and activating products after the sim is working (and only activating products that you want to use).
Unfortunately, any useful posts will be lost in the thousands of angry and frustrating posts by users.
Very poor launch of a eagerly anticipated product.
Those who DID express these concerns, including from that ‘alpha’ were told we’re being negative and “not to worry”.
Sigh. So frustrating.
Yep - especially when those of us who lived through the turmoil of 2020’s first year were sharing very good reasons as to why we should ALL be skeptical, I can only say that the people with their fingers in their ears are getting exactly what they deserve right now.
I’ll purchase 2024 when 2020’s is on its last legs, and absolutely no sooner.
Instead of releasing at 8am Pacific they should have gone with Midnight local time. This would allow the process to be staggered due to time zones/regions/countries. That would of course require them to have their (Microsoft) staff on hand at less-than-optimal work times but at least there would be less of a overload.
I can party agree with you.
I get it, very high number or requests from players.
But I can not understand why they choose afternoon time for launch.
Yes, they released it on 19th November, but majority of us will be able to play it or just to check it out, on a 20th November.
They could launch it at morning hours. So I think server load would be much more dispersed. People who are sleep a little bit longer, people are at work, some other have other things to do. In afternoon, everyone is wake and home.
The launch time was the morning for me. It’s a world-wide launch all at the same time, so it depends where you live.
Hello @vedran136,
The launch time was chosen for 8am PST because it’s the start of the business day in Seattle/Redmond where Microsoft is based.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Yeah, it’s been like that since 2020 and counting. Everyone who’s on the “other” side, is automatically wrong because he’s not blindly supporting MSobo.
I go back before Windows 3.0. Plus ca change.
They could simply repeat what they did with the MSFS 2020 launch. Staggered release on the MS Store based on local time and choose a release time on Steam where it would be late at night/early morning in Europe and most of the US.
This time, they not only chose to launch globally but they chose a time when basically all of Europe and the US are awake. It’s asking for server problems. I don’t know what was going through their minds to decide this, but most of the current issues could have been avoided.
MSFS 2024 launch is being much worse than MSFS 2020 was for me. Unlike some, I had absolutely no problems downloading and installing MSFS 2020 on launch day. In fact, I downloaded and installed MSFS 2020 twice that day, once from the Microsoft Store and once from Steam, and I didn’t have any problems with slow downloads or missing content. With MSFS 2024, I’m having all sorts of issues.
The bad thing is the launch time was at GMT 16:00, when a huge sim community in Europe have just finished their works and eagerly came back home and explore new MSFS.
No server on the earth could survive that load.
Conclusion, Microsoft offered “pre-orders” 1 month ago, took our money 1 week before launch… and we get this ?
→ Microsoft is not the guilty guy here, I am (and on top of that I feel stupid believing even the world’s biggest tech company could handle such launch…).
This is a streaming game!! If they can’t handle the community downloading throughout the day, how are they going to handle the community on a Saturday streaming?
Everything you need to know about Microsoft infrastructure if you are planning to migrate your capacities to a cloud solution from Microsoft!
Ok, and why did MS not choose to have a PreLoad? This was a very, very bad decission.
I consider a refund…
Will there be any compensation?
Sorry but this launch of fs24 is a disaster. Many of us couldn’t even download the game, got stuck on the trailer (14% for 2.5 hours of waiting) and for those who were able to launch the game, either it crashed or they didn’t. was able to connect. It’s very disappointing.
I wonder what the weather is like in Redmond. Is it too hot?
