Toolbar Missing and ability to change certain weather settings missing when loading a saved flight

Do the developers know that they have to fix this fault - seems strange that the latest update has ignored this major issue

Would be grateful if anyone knows anything about this- when the next update is released to hopefully solve this fault

Currently experiencing the same thing on Xbox Series S. I’ll load any saved flight in the middle of the flight and the quick menu bar is gone. In addition to that, all POIs are gone, too. Makes it impossible to find the airport you’re going to if you don’t know the area. Incredibly frustrating.

This is a bug. It has been reported to Asobo as such. They fixed it in SU7, but it’s come back again in SU8 (which in itself is scary regarding “change control”).

Same issue for me.
1: I save a flight,
2: close the game,
3: complain at real life graphics,
4: return to the sim
5: load up flight
6: no toolbar

The alt-z trick to load the nvidia overlay did not work for me

I want to use this option to always save the state of the aircraft for extra realism, ie fuel, weight, airport and all that.

I tried windowed and full screen mode. I have a button assigned to open the menu, but it doesn’t work. Same for opening ATC window or VFR map.

As you see above forum moderators consider this a “self-service” issue, in spite of the fact that it is a bug in the software that was once fixed but came back apparently due to poor change control practices at Asobo.

Does anyone know anything about this ?

Thanks

Did you look at the Post above?

When you call the Microsoft Xbox support hotline they will give you a refund. At least I got my money back. I can encourage all users to do the same! Asobo you’re done
f**** up!

Not yet, topic was just merged. But still same problem. Are you kidding? I don´t want to waste time for reading a whole book and to set tons of special conditions only for continuing a saved flight…

I don’t believe there is a way to get that toolbar back after loading a saved flight.

I don’t know if it’s an acknowledged bug, I know I personally filed it many times in zendesk.

same problem here! Cessna Longitude

Same problem for me, Beechcraft Bonanza G36.

So disappointing, since today even worse: immediately get a CTD when loading a saved flight!!
Never ever seen a software with so many programming flaws and bugs. 2y and still simplest things don´t work. Maybe the demands on the programming teams are far too high. Looking pretty might be enough for a xbox game, but for a software, claiming to be a “Simulator”, you need real software engineers, not only graphic designers.

Hello, First of all. sorry for my english.
I found something that works for me.
Try to not save your flight in the cloud. Save it in the PC, then reload the flight.
For me that works fine.

I’m hoping the upcoming Bush Trip fixes for SU10 may address this, since I feel like those “Mission” concepts are mixed with loading saved flights. But it may be false hope.

Anyway, in lieu of a fix or acknowledgement, I did some more experiments. I think I again found a possible work-around on PC. No clue about xbox.

If someone could also try that out, I am curious.

Possible Work-around for Toolbar
  • Start a new flight, parked cold and dark, without a flight plan (we are not doing a single flight anyway)
  • Click “Ready to Fly”
  • Immediatly save the flight
  • Proceed with your wacky adventures and then park your aircraft somewhere else
  • When parked, save the flight and overwrite the previous saved game
  • In the FLT file, change FirstFlightState to “PREFLIGHT_PUSHBACK”
  • Load the flight
  • Observe your aircraft where you left it AND a Toolbar
  • It looks like you can repeat this multiple times, so as long as you save from a new flight before doing anything, it may just keep working …

Caveat: this still has the Weather icon missing. If you want that back look at the next work-around

Work-around for Weather icon in Toolbar
[Weather]
UseLiveWeather=True
WeatherCanBeLive=True
Notes on my investigation

Scenario 01 “NOK”:

  • Start a new flight, cold and dark from a parking spot
  • Fly to some other location
  • Save the flight, then load it again

Expected result: Toolbar is present

Observed result: Toolbar is missing

Scenario 02 “OK”:

  • Start a new flight, cold and dark from a parking spot
  • Save the flight, then load it again

Expected result: Toolbar is present

Observed result: Toolbar is present (yes, it is there)

I then proceeded comparing the two saved games. And can make some observations:

  • Both consist of a .FLT file (ini format) and an SPB file (binary).
    • For NOK, this file is 1 KB
    • For OK, this file is 61 KB (!)
  • Removing the SPB file for OK and then loading flight also results in a missing toolbar
    • The SPB seems to contain information important enough for Flight Simulator to show or not show the toolbar

I then proceeded with several experiments comparing the two FLT files and trying to align them. There were some differences, but nothing of interest it seemed.

Then, I tried the following:

  • Replace the small 1KB SPB with the big SPB from the saved game that was working

The result was that the toolbar was missing … HOWEVER.

I then also changed FirstFlightState from “WAITING” to “PREFLIGHT_PUSHBACK”. Now the saved file loaded WITH the Toolbar.

However, the cloud icon for the Weather was still missing (live weather was active). This, however, can be restored by replacing the [Weather] section with this:

[Weather]
UseLiveWeather=True
WeatherCanBeLive=True

Yep, at last the answer, save it to the PC hard drive. ‘Big AL 00000’

But after you’ve loaded your saved game from the PC, press Escape, and go into Assistant, turn off Ai ATC Assistant or you’ll be pushed back.

I cannot bring up ATC or the toolbar after loading a flight. Tried rebinding keys, nothing works to bring up the toolbar. Hotkeys for the ATC window or VFR map also have no effect.
