Top Gun Escort

I was flying my Kodiak at 3000 feet from Miami to Cat Cay cruising at 150 kts. The next things I know is I have three F-18’s escorting me. I went down to 500 feet and so did they, I went up to 3000 feet and so did they. They followed me all the way and after I landed one F-18 did a fly by!

The only thing is that they appeared as airliners…kind of strange to see airliners doing roll overs! I did not think to take some screen shots!

Go into options/traffic and at the bottom of that page, turn the settings for aircraft to not generic and then you should be able to see the f/a 18’s as f/a 18’s…

It was me an my wingmen! We were trying to intercept you but then realized MSFS doesn’t have guns, so we escorted instead!

As mentioned, set generic to off,
but also know it could cause a performance hit.

And you must have the same livery installed as the other player(s) to see that livery, otherwise it displays as a generic.

Maybe a better way to say it…

F18 is in the jet category, so they could be shown as any other jet,
IF those other players were using anything other than the default liveries.

This applies to all aircraft types.
There’s a wishlist on this issue.

I really don’t understand how the multiplayer aircraft are depicted at all.I am on Xbox msfs basic edition with no aircraft addons and just very occasionally I get to see a F18 or F16 doing its thing, but usually I almost always get a generic widebody instead which is a shame .But I too got an F16 / F18 escort over Rio a few months back which was depicted correctly and was great fun ,so why does it very occasionally show the right plane??

If Gamers want to play Fighter Escort in MP, please, do it with your own Group of Gamers, and stop HARSSING other MP Players, who want nothing to do with your “Pretending to be a Fighter Pilot”,

STOP harassing other pilots when they are minding their own business and flying their own planes without harassing others, and want nothing to do with your “GAMES” and harassment !!

Its GOT be be an Infringement of the COC and should not be tolerated.

To Asobo:

MP has a “FRIENDS list” “GREAT”
Please can we have an “IGNORE List” to give players the option to not display “Ignored Players” on their Ignore list, in their MP session.

(and make it an unlimited Number List !!! )

Would also be nice if any player appear on to many Ignore lists, that they are reminded of the COC. with CONSEQUENCES !!!

I mean, to be fair, there is no collision damage, anyone not engaged can willfully ignore anyone else and pretend they’re not there.

I was “escorted” by an F18 while I was on approach to JFK once in a CRJ; the end result was, well…I just stayed on the approach and ignored them until they broke off.

One can choose to IGNORE (HIDE) other posters in the Forum, so why cannot that be extended to the SIM, with a personal individual MP Ignore List.

Thinking “INSIDE the Box”, such a Tool would make a great ADDON !!! (Free or Payware !!)

LOL I like to fly off the wing of gamers with dodgy name tags, look out of my canopy and catch the pilots eye, just so he knows I’ve got my eye on him! Feel free to block me anytime, I never cross the path or interfere in anyones flight… oh and it look amazing in VR, happy days.

Jayne actually mentioned this during the Q&A stream when it they asked about larger private MP groups. It would appear griefers are now showing up to the official MSFS live events and being general ***hats and nuisances to the group.

These griefers are everywhere. You can find them at most major airports buzzing the towers, buzzing approaches as planes are trying to land, etc. Every now and then, I re-enable MP. It takes all of a few minutes for me to remember why I disabled it in the first place and turn it off again.

But one should not need to do that, because a few are spoiling multiplayer for the Majority. - but that will not last for long. !!

Its almost Trivial (Thanks to MSFS excellent SDK ) to pull up the list of MP names that you in your current MP list, click on their name, and have that name add to an IGNORE list, that when it sees that player, places them at 250,000ft in your MP session. A simple Simconnect MOD/addon to deal with Disruptive Players :airplane: :airplane: :airplane:

There are a lot of things we need to do in this sim that we shouldn’t have to in order to get a good experience. This is just another one in that long list.

No thanks, not interested in you telling me how to enjoy the game I paid for.

If YOU want to be left alone, go fly by yourself.

Edit: Also, let’s be clear. Flying an aircraft near someone on the same multiplayer server as you is not “harassment”.

Had the same thing happen to me the other day

unfortunately that’s the point of an online game. You’ll always find some wannabes to get on your nerves, or better: they’ll find you. There is nothing that prevents it and it’s typical of open world online games. All you can do is use the offline functionality and use AIG for example, even though that means you’re stuck with bad AI programming.

You guys need a life. Many of those so called harassers probably aren’t doing it on purpose. They might just be trying to learn how to fly or controls, etc. Near airports just shut off multiplayer because you are going to have tons of players spawning on runways. Not everyone, myself included do cold engine starts at hangars.

As for the one sending ppl 250k miles away lol. I don’t think they care. They will still see your aircraft. When I am in an airbus I barely even look out a window. Most flying is by the mcu.

Actually up to an altitude of 250,000 ft … but you hit the nail on the head

" I don’t think they care "

and neither do I now , so everyone gets their way :+1:

LOL man your gonna hate me then, I know on the slim occasion I see someone in multiplayer, I am guilty of doing a 180 and buzzing them before they taking off, intercept other aircraft (and if they’re fighter aircraft try to get them into a game of follow my leader). But it all started when I was flying over Ukraine and was being harassed by an su27, in my 208 so I started to manuever only to watch him dive down to the 500’ agl I was flying at, and smack the ground (priceless), he continued his pursuit until his 3rd crash then he gave up LOL I thought it was fun myself but to each their own. I only wish we had ingame communications so he could of heard me laughing in person.

I am clearly unusual on this subject but I personally love seeing the occasional near miss and being buzzed/ chased/checked out by other pilots,I clearly don’t take this sim game as seriously as some… just wish the aircraft looked correct for the model.

So if anyone reading this wants to buzz my aircraft then feel free👍
