Because it’s a question of manpower, know-how, licenses and permits. And we’re not just talking about military clearances here. Since this is also about the film TopGun, Paramount Pictures Studios also has the final say in this. It is not that easy to release an authentic F/A-18 including avionics for the MSFS.
But there are also providers who have successfully completed this whole approval chaos (Eagle Dynamics). However, such an extensive package can then no longer be given away as DLC.
I can’t speak for your system of course, but everything works fine in VR for me, and I have no reason to believe anything about this DLC would change the way VR works for anyone.
I think they’ve got to make them moving. It’ll be laughable if they don’t and not exactly in tune with a state of the art film about flight.
I just don’t have any idea how they’re going to do it as at the moment the sim’s programming doesn’t allow it.
You couldn’t tell a great deal from the initial trailer, but it did show up some detail that was more impressive that I was expecting - fencing, crew etc - so I’m hopeful it’ll be good.
I am really happy that it works well for you.
To many different setups around and even tho i can fly in dcs without any issue, i get terrain lag in Vr when flying low in Heli.
When cruising at 10000+ its fine as there is nothing to see really.
Yeah I agree. It’ll be interesting to see how they do it. Are they on predetermined routes or do we have control over where they go? I hope its the latter but I bet its the former.
I’m not trying to come across as a brag… My point was simply that you shouldn’t assume everyone has the problem. Polling suggested a few weeks ago that a lot of people are using VR and enjoying it.
There are certainly people having some troubles. But it’s not a universal thing.
It’s already confirmed that the F/A-18 will get more features on release - some stuff was held back but the intention was to release the aircraft due to high demand
Fun thought. But if you’re old enough to remember when the F117 was well hidden black project, but a lot of people suspected a Stealth Plane had been developed there was a lot of wild speculation about what it would be, what it looked like, what capabilities it might have.
After it had existed since 1981 in one form or another, and was finally revealed to us in 1990 after having been in service for at least 7 years, it turned out it looked nothing like anyone thought it would, and didn’t have the capabilities that anyone thought it would.
If someone had made a sim of a ‘Stealth Fighter’ even one month prior to that April 1990 reveal, it would have been an entirely incorrect plane. In fact a number of sims were released in that period, and they were wildly wrong.
Skunkworks is a deeply opaque operation. The apparent existence of a name, or a designator, or even concept art does not mean you’re not getting your chain jerked around. Until that plane (SR-72) is actually revealed as a real plane in photos and not in renders, you don’t know anything about it except whatever someone wants you to know… Which, if past experience with them is any indication, is the same as knowing nothing at all.
Isn’t the SR-72 supposed to be an unmanned Mach 6 hypersonic aircraft for strategic reconnaissance? What’s the point of an unmanned aircraft in the MSFS? … honest question.
Yeah the SR-72 is a UAV. Thats not the secret plane we see in the trailer.
edit. The spy plane in the movie definitely isn’t a SR-72. You can find out about it online but I won’t link to it here because its a pretty big movie spoiler. The plane was designed by Lockheed-Martin though.
