I don’t have TrackerIR. But I voted for this out of solidarity with trackerIR users (and partially because if there is a hotfix I hope the squeeze in the colour banding fix). It is really disappointing and worrying that MS would knowingly move to production a change that would destroy the sim experience for thousands of users. I hope you get your hotfix. SU7 in my opinion has rallied customers together.
and I too will not be investing any more cash in MSFS until MS fix what they’ve broken in SU5 and now SU7.
Using trackir was still the last update no problem. But now it a problem. Everytime it lost visible contact to it it stops. Terrible hope this will soon fixed. Voted also fo a solution.

It’s great having all these work arounds for temp solutions! But it still will not fix the problem at heart. Why was this useless feature even considered? What was it intended to accomplish? No other game has this game breaking bug/feature/whatever it is for track ir. TIR has it’s own software that controls it’s functions.
If if ain’t broke don’t touch it. And some acceptable quality control is needed before SU are released. It’s not good enough.
I learned this today the hard way. I opened up that “Camera” menu, found the slider, then turned it on. Head tracking works!
Unfortunately as soon as I pressed Pause TrackIR, I watched as the slider went back to Disabled.
This behavior really needs to revert to the way it worked prior to GOTY.
Adding another vote. Please revert this latching “disabled” behaviour entirely.
A note for the devs:
To give a lighthearted analogy for why this behaviour is so aggravating for us: having TrackIR latch off if our head goes out of view is similar to if Visual Studio switched off your monitor everytime you type something that is a syntax error. It’s surprising actually - I wouldn’t have expected it to be quite this jarring.
So the TrackIR problem is:
- pausing TrackIR with its assigned key, switches it off in FS
- if the clip get out of sight of the TrackIR receiver, TrackIR gets switched off in FS
Microsoft/Asobo added the Tobii eye tracker (see link below…)
PERIPHERALS
- Tobii eye tracker is now supported (more settings/configuration will come in a later update)
but they wrote a known issue that does not match the problem with TrackIR:
KNOWN ISSUES
General:
- TrackIR may sometimes stop working properly during a flight. Press F12 to reset the position.
I think Microsoft/Asobo discovered the TrackIR bug at the last minute, maybe even just after v 1.21.13.0 was ready to be downloaded, because such a mismatch between their Known issue and the real TrackIR problem is a clear sign they didn’t have the time to properly investigate.
The bug very likely appeared in modifying the code for TrackIR when adding the Tobii eye tracker.
When I first read “Tobii eye tracker” I thought something could disrupt TrackIR. I work in QC and I can feel such things from far away…
This is the Game of the Year edition, so we can feel all the gamebreaking bugs From the past updates again.
As an old RWP who has just come out of hospital where I was stuck in ICU on my back with all the bad sounds on that place. I downloaded the update and no Track IR. After a troll on this topic and a reboot, set a toggle switch and a re-center key as suggested and my Track IR worked. Took off from Bankstown, down the harbour, past the Opera House and out through the Heads, followed VICTOR 1 past Bondi and continued to YSHL for the proverbial $200 hamburger. The weather was great and just to be in the air was superb, pain forgotten and life was great again. Thanks guys for helping me fix my Track IR you have no idea how much it helped me.
That was my first thought, too. My second thought was, that I credit Microsoft/Asobo for providing us with so much free content through Sim Update 7 and the GOTY edition, but that they shouldn’t roll out such extensive updates if they don’t have the manpower for proper quality control.
So sadly they have managed to turn the joy of all the extra content into frustration for quite a few users. Here it would have helped if Asobo had not only published the notice that this is a known issue, but that they are work on a hotfix that will be released before the next Sim Update 8.
Considering the price we paid, and considering all the free extras we have, I think we can be understanding.
I have a track-ir, and I’m waiting for a hotfix.

He don’t move. It return in off position. It’s impossible to put it ON
Moderator Edit:
Same problem of Track-IR as denoted by a large number of users. A quick correction seems to be needed. Thank you in advance.
Même problème de Track-IR qu’énnoncé par un grand nombre d’utilisateur. Une correction rapide semble s’imposer. Merci d’avance.
Since latest MSFS update Nov. 2021 my TrackIR does not work anymore. I try my best to describe as short and precise as possible:
- TrackIR software 5.4.2.27545 works as usual. Switched on before MSFS
- TrackIR “Advanced Settings” - List of “Titles”: MS Flightsimulator 2020 is included and “default”
- Then I switch MSFS on
- In MSFS it does not work at all, both lights on the TrackIR sensor are on though!
- In the MSFS “control settings” the tab “TrackIR” is shown, but empty and the gneric outlined picture on the lower right shows a questionmark.
- Other than in other comments in this forum my MSFS does not show the TrackIR on-off switch in the camera menu
- Keyboard and joystick settings are customized
- Windows 10 with all updates, all drivers up to date, cpu Ryzen 5900X, nvidia RTX 3080
- MSFS 2020 delux download and updates from MS Store
Please advise! Many thanks.
Sorry buddy…no advise. Grab a torch or a pitchfork and join us in the angry mob ![]()
In the camera menu from the toolbar while in the cockpit, not the general options - camera menu if that’s where you were looking.
Hey I gotta ask just cause now I’m really curious about it, what’s so great about home cockpit mode? I don’t get it??? It’s been quite awhile since I ever looked at it, but I’ve always assumed that it should make the plane model disappear, for full on home cockpits. Which it still doesn’t do, so I just don’t get what the point of it is. Am I missing something???
Same thing it works partially in windowed mode on multi screen
But definitively deactivates if you press F9
En fait après plusieurs essais même en mode fenêtré il s’active ou pas de façon aléatoire
Thanks mate. Na, I did mean the “camera” options from the cockpit view in flight. It does not show up as I see it in screenshots from others. And in the general options the TrackIR tab is shown, but empty and with a questionsmark.
I submitted a ticket about this two days ago . Their reply was, " It was in the release notes for the SU" . In other words, go away…
They said this bug was in the release notes. They also said nothing about a fix.
