Track IR Stops Working

Same here, i use TIR frow within the different cockpit views (ie. custom camera on the GPS and radio pannel and then move my head according to which i want to fiddle with).

I already had a “re center track IR” button assigned on my joystick for those times when the tracking slipped a bit so I just assigned the same button to “toggle head tracking” and dont notice too much difference.

Please fix the broken TrackIR - I don’t fly without TrackIR. Today would be great.

Good point. :worried:

AutoTrackIR removed:

Ok so we’ve all heard the complaints, temporary fixes, the release notes, suggestions and blood curdling cries, can we now hear from an official on this issue besides the release notes? Please?! Soon?! In the words of the late Chris Farley… Please let us hear something “for the love of GOD!” :upside_down_face:

That’s part of the bug that there is n o fix for. All those posting there’s a workaround are completely ignoring that part of the bug. MSFS really dropped the ball on SU7.

It is unacceptable to force an update knowing something like TrackIR being broken. Can’t wait for the next update when you won’t be able to fly any plane. Game of the year… yea.

I posted this question 9 days ago. Not to be snarky, but has Asobo made a statement about TrackIR in the past 9 days? If and when they do make a statement, where would it be…I’m not sure what section to be looking for it. I’ve checked “Announcements and News” but I don’t see anything about bugs in that section.

Where should I be looking? This is very important to me (and I’m guessing many others), as I’ve stopped flying Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 since they broke TrackIR. I wanted to jump on the sale on the PMDG DC-6 in the Market Place, but I haven’t, as I don’t want to invest any more into MSFS 2020 if Asobo has no plans to fix TrackIR. No TrackIR is a sim killer for me.

Thanks!

You can still find it on the author’s GitHub page.
Apparently it was removed beacuse Windows Defender’s heuristics identify it as a virus.

Imagine then, that you were impatiently waiting for Reno when, a few days before planned release, you were told SU7, and hence Reno, had been postponed because it had been discovered that a popular joystick that you never owned would otherwise loose some of its button-functionality. Not the axes, just some of the extras.

I use TrackIR myself, and do think a hotfix is warranted, but I would never hold back a big release because of something like this. If I must, I will fly and live with the issue until it’s fixed.

agree! I flew several hours with TrackIR since SU7 and while it’s a bit of a pain it’s honestly not that of a big deal. Just map a button to Reset Head Tracking. I’m so used to reset it regularly, I don’t even register it anymore

But it is true that pausing it while looking at a certain group of instruments, e.g., to turn a knob in Legacy mouse mode, is currently not possible.

And THAT is the main problem here. Can’t pause and look at something without it re-centering. I did that all the time to adjust something or tune a frequency. I’ve gotten so used to doing that and have relied on it so much that it’s just not enjoyable anymore without that ability. I’ve gone back to FSX and all my A2A and PMDG aircraft for now until they fix this. The scenery is certainly not very good but at least it all WORKS. I was really enjoying flying the PMDG DC-6 in MFSF but it’s just too frustrating now. Right in the middle of my around the world flight too. It was just so wonderful to see the great scenery and landscape but I guess I’ll just have to opt for functionality and trouble free over visuals for now. Oh well. Such is life in our hobby I guess.

As others, until they get it fixed I assigned my #2 button on the Honeycomb yoke to the TIR toggle. When it freezes I can at least get it back quickly. I don’t really use the pause much as others do. Hopefully a fix will come soon.

Same here, Something went screwy with Track IR, The sim turns it off every time the camera loses line of sight with the sensor. And turning it back on in the camera module will turn it back on, sometimes for only a second, It’s the only bug I have right now, but it’s a big one.

This might be a surprise to some folks but this is the first serious bug that I’ve had in MSFS. The head tracking toggle might be a good idea for other types of head trackers but trackir already has this functionality (and better implemented to) so the secondary in sim function is actually a problem (obviously). Maybe Asobo can just give us an option to disable the in sim toggle? Potentially problem solved if the toggle switch is advantageous for other head trackers?

I saw that the questionable functionality was in the release notes so hopefully a fix is coming?

sounds like they messed it up while adding Tobii Eye Tracker support…I’d expect it’ll be fixed in a coming update. “Which update, and how soon?” will be the question..

Why are people insisting that he fix , fixes Track IR, it doesn’t. It needs a fix from Asobo that restores what they broke.

Can confim this work around works. Also Second Riverrover’s finding. Mapped a button to Stream Deck to Un-F**& TIR.

Is this the longest period of silence we’ve seen from Asobo regarding a bug? It’s been almost 2 weeks since they broke TrackIR and not a word from them anywhere that I can find.
