TrackIR is bugged

How to enable TrackIR, in the MSFS 2024 settings?

For TrackIR to work in msfs24, you have to update your TrackIR software to the latest version 5.5.3 and update your list of games supported. Go into the TrackIR program menu to update everything. Once I updated the TrackIR software, it works perfectly for me.

Word of caution about this to others. Any version beyond 5.4.2 MAY NOT work with older hardware such as TrackIR 4 or TrackIR 3.

I have a TIR 4 and it stopped working after I installed software version 5.5.x as the USB driver was updated. The camera lights up, but the software does not detect anything from the camera’s sensor.

I had to rollback to 5.4.2 and manually update the driver in Device Manager (it’s found in the program’s folder) to get my TIR4 back to life. If that version won’t work with MSFS 2024, I’ll be very disappointed. But it’s almost 20 years old and nothing last forever.

The good news, all you have to do is to update your list of supported games in TrackIR.
I’m running a 20 years old device with old drivers and that did it for me.

For me, the latest update also broke MSFS2020

MSFS2024 was not detected for me with 5.4.2

Roll back to 5.4.2, run the trackir software and select ā€œcheck for game updatesā€ from the top left menu.

I flew MS2024 last night with TrackIR. I think the trick was updating TrackIR so that it included the new sim. Unfortunately, yesterday was a bad day for restarting the sim, it took several attempts and long waits.

Hoping they get thru all these launch-day problems sooner than later.

Thank you, I updated to latest version but, unfortunately, the latest version seem to be a huge mess.
Can’t make it work, it won’t even open, no led are on.

TrackIR 4 with software version 5.4.2 works fine for me in 2024. Make sure the TrackIR option is toggled on in the camera menu from the toolbar (it was by default for me).

I didn’t actually manage a flight yet as I’m stuck in the floor in walkaround mode after loading in, and I can’t even get into a plane, but I can look around with TrackIR from my vantage point below the ground… at least that’s something!

I’ll try again, later when I get home, with TrackIR 5, software version 5.4.2
Thank you so much

  1. Description of the issue:
Track IR is bugged. When in the cockpit, I center it, but each time I move the head, it doesn’t come back to the center. Quickly it becomes totally wrong, to the point of me looking backwards. Recalibrating doesn’t solve it. I have to open the camera menu, cockpit camera, and reset it there. But it quickly ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  again to the point that I can’t fly in the cockpit. The shifting is not so strong if I fly in external view.
Also, in the main menu, the earth globe reacts to TrackIR. It soon becomes totally mad, with the globe spinning like crazy.
In the settings, under TrackIR, it’s written ā€œTobiiā€, which is not the system I have. I have TrackIR but I can’t select it.

  2. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
I have no mods, no add-ons.

I’ve spent hours in 2024 with TrackIR. No issues for me.
Well, except the main menu spinning globe issue anyway. But that’s not in the cockpit.

TrackIR 5 works fine in 2024 here too.
I did DL a software update(dunno how old it is, but newer than the one I had), and there is a button ā€˜check for new games’ or something(top right). Press that, and see if it works.

No problems here. Like @Fornax4188 , I did install the new games update in the top right, but I’m pretty sure it was working fine before that.

I wonder if you have something else configured to control your view that may be drifting?

Working okay in game here too, except the world globe view. Installed the latest version and then ran game update first.

Im also getting the spinning globe

In my case the game had preassigned the view controls to a mini stick. Check the assignments including the General category for duplicate controls.

Spinning globe at main menu. Just restrict TrackIR to in game please

That’s good to know, thanks. My TrackIR hardware is a TrackIR 3 Pro!

Hi, Same problem for me, I have a slight shift of the view from the center to the upper left corner. I have to reset the view continuously.
