TrackIR v5

Does anybody know if this peripheral is compatible with FS2020?
If so, any helpful recommendation for installing it?
Thanks!

Yes it is compatible, Download the software, Open the MSFS 2020 profile or create your own, Plug and play. I’ve had my v5 for years now with the pro clip and had the v4 before as well. I can’t fly without it. There are also plenty of tutorials on YT that help you setup a profile if you struggle.

I can second @RWIP66 above, I have just installed it myself and no issues at all :slightly_smiling_face:

Either use TrackIR or another tool like the Delanclip and the free software opentrack. Works just as the same, just cheaper.

If someone is looking for a good tracking device I can absolutely recommend Tobii Eye Tracker 5!
Is not yet supported by MSFS2020 but works pretty good with an extra software called FacetrackNoir.
And the best of it, you don’t have to wear any kind of basecap or clip on your head. It recognises your head and eye moving, even in darker rooms. (In MSFS2020 it just recognises your head movings yet, not your eye movings). Search this forum for Tobii Eye Tracker 5 and you will find some posts how to set it up properly. Cheers, Tom

Yes, it is definitly compatible with FS2020!
And easy to install/use.
Would not know how to fly without it

Plug and play, baby. I would highly recommend one of the setup tutorials on youtube. I used it for years without even setting it up, and I wasn’t using it to its full capacity.

Yes it is. I can’t imagine flying any sim without head tracking.
I use both the TrackClip Pro (wired IR add on clips to a headset) and the Delanclip fusion (wireless battery powered IR stuck to the headband for a head torch)

The basic “hat clip” does work but I don’t really enjoy wearing a hat for long flying sessions.

Does it work in external or drone mode ?

Yes.

Love mine. Track Clip Pro is definitely worth it.

So if you want to use a 360 controller for drone mode, you just pause the TrackIR ?

The TrackIR and my hat switch work together in drone view … just got mine, not quite perfect but it’s simpler than you think is the most confusing part.

You don’t “make TrackIR work” just start it, center the view, start the game, it just works.

I’ve been experimenting a bit with a cheap 720p webcam, using Opentrack combined with AITrack (which is a must as it’ll filter the head motion picked up by the webcam). Had to also use a couple of readily available profiles from flightsim.to as a template and then configure the curves to my own needs.

Although I don’t use the above in each and every flight, I think the results are rather positive. Most importantly they’re completely free of charge, assuming the user already owns a webcam. No hats, no headsets, no IR sensors, nothing at all, just a webcam. So doesn’t hurt to try.

I recommend using the “smooth” profile in TrackIR for MSFS.

yes…

you have full controll about the movement…

Example:

Holy working multi- monitor set up! Very nice!

Thanks, there was some serious head patting and tummy rubbing while hopping on one foot between NVIDIA Control Panel and Display Settings to get it working but it’s doable without too much visible stretching. If you use your peripheral vision the sides still look a mess but if you use head turn and the tracking it’s almost alright/not horrible.

Hi
I have just installed this. I have 2 monitors, and just want to ask how do I keep TIR on screen at the same time as MSFS so I can adjust IR while flying. I don;t have minimise set.
