To be perfectly honest, I didnāt expect this to work but it seems to be the best solution so far! Still have an FPS hit with four pop-outs but thatās to be expected. But at least I can fly with out everything on my main screen being fuzzy!
Thanks for the suggestion.
Eventuallly I will need a better GPU. I have a Dell Alienware computer and am limited to a 267mm card so it may be a whole new PC for me.
In the meantime, Iām flying again!
When youve changed this texture resolution than you van lower trees to a lower setting,
And lowe4 grass also lower texture synthese
After this it its easy to change lod settings like in urban region photogrammetry change lod of detail to 100 think (new york, london) and in ai urban area lower terrain lod and up detail lod
Im pretty shure you will notice difference in performance smoothness and stability
Happy landings if you set own weather and set ground winds to higher level
Sometimes this sim is so frustrating. Loaded a flight after my PC did a windows upgrade and my FPS was too low. Rebooted everything and it looked good again. Had FPS around 25 which I know a lot of people would think is very low but it works for me. Start my taxi and as I get to the end of the runway my FPS drops to 2! I canāt even quit out of the sim and have to use Task Manager to kill it.
The only thing I can think of is that there were two other planes taxiing, one in front of me and one behind me.
Rebooted everything and will try againā¦and still not good. Changed my main screens back to 4068x768 and although everything is a bit fuzzy, my FPS is 55-60 and I can fly.
Then I tried some other things. Rolled back the windows update. Changed G-Sync settings in Nvidia control panel to both windowed and full screen. Thought I was good, started a flight at 30 FPS, popped-out my four screens with a drop to 23-25, still happy. Taxied to the runway and it dropped to 18. Took off and within a minute or so I was down to 2 FPS and had to ctrl+alt+del my way out of the sim.
ever tried to put the popouts on a tablet using say spacedesk etc? I used to use the cheap amazon fire tablets in this config and it worked ā ā ā ā fine with no fps loss, plus it saves you the possible hdmi slot on your cardā¦then again the tablet set-up isnt for everybody. Now I run 3 55" at 1080 on my 3070ti and use an ipad and an ipad mini for popouts with spacedesk. Ive built a surround for the mini replicating the exact buttons and encoders from a gns 530. immersion is second to none IMHO anyways. can get a ipad mini for like 60 canadian wooden pennies on evilbay.
I havenāt done that. The thing that I have trouble understanding is that my pop-outs are all plugged into USB display adapters. So it would seem like that would mean they are not driven by my card.
I have a 2080 S. When I opened a ticket with the Zendesk they said my card isnāt powerful enough to handle what Iām trying to do. Well it once was and this only started after they ungrouped the pop-outs.
For now Iām back to running at 4098x768. Things are fuzzy but Iām getting 50-60 FPS.
And the bummer is that my Alienware willl only hold a GPU up to 267mm long so Iām fairly restricted on my upgrade unless I build a new system.
MSFS uses only a single GPU; all windows will be drawn by the same GPU. Things that are displayed on different output devices will be copied to their output framebuffers by the operating systemās window manager.
not a new system, just a new case brotha, and they are cheap, alienware has terrible airflow anyways.
p.s. - you are overclocking your 2080 correct? From what I understand a considerable amount of performance is loeft hanging if you are not, also. try taking off your front panel to deal with temperature issues. keep mthe temps low as possible and watch the framerates get firm.
Last time I overclocked anything was my Celeron processor back in 1999!
Would my current Aurora R11 motherboard fit in a different case or has Dell made them to fit just their own cases?
Thanks for the info!
The fundamental problem is that Asobo do not render external instruments in 2D, just like real planes do.
They continue to render 3D hence the frame rate hit.
Itās a cheap developer fix (Iāve developed 3D CAD/CAM). A bit more work and they can render 2D views which wonāt impact the forward view.
They could switch off the 3D cockpit and just draw windows, that saves a lot of frames.
Just like Air Manager the 2D views have minimal impact on CPU and GPU.
But Microsoft are focusing on the single monitor Xbox in 2024. We are xxxxxxxx.
The big question I have now, since I donāt think this will be fixed, Iād about upgrading.
What GPU will be needed to run 3 27ā monitors at 7680x1440, have four 7-10ā pop-out screens and have a frame rate at least 25-30?
My system now is a Intel Core i9-10900KF (3.70GHz) and 32GB of memory. GPU is a 2080S. And all of this did work prior to them ungrouping the pop outs. I wasnāt getting 25-30 but it was fly-able.
Trying to pop all those out now seems to break something. My frame rate starts at 18-20, then I watch it drop to 1-2 at which point I have to restart the system.
Wondering now if maybe my GPU isnāt toast.
Iām trudging through some online guides for over clocking and under volting. What do you recommend?
what type of ram do you have? youve got it running at max speed correct? preferably like 3600mhz+ and timings around say 16-19-19 or better?
you have a i9-10900kf at 3.8? crank that baby up to at least 5.3!!!
and make sure youve got afterburner on and turn up the gpu to half of whatever the so called max is overclock. EX max is +100, +700 then you do +50, +350
p.s. there are a million cases your board will fit in buddy. Check out the

Donāt suppose you live in central Maine do you?
I wouldnāt recommend taking overclocking advice from someone who doesnāt appear to recognise the difference between CPU base and boost frequencies.
If you peg your cpu to 3.8 its going to put out 3.8, If you put it to 4.3 its going to put out 4.3. An all core overclock is an all core overclock. . Maybe instead of putting in negative nonsense, Fill us in on how you would solve the issue champ.
p/s/ I dont want my cpu to ever boost or do anything but run at its max clock and stay there exactly where i place it.
