Two Desktop IDs within my MS Store account?

I just changed Mobo and CPU since msfs needs very good hardware and i got rewarded with two desktop lets say ids. The name of both is exactly the same but one has 64GB RAM and the other 63GB RAM. One is called System Product Name and the other PC. What does it mean and is that the reason why i was asked to put in cd while i have no cd drive?
I’ve lost all faith in the Microsoft Store now. Incompetent and fraudulent they seem to me. Is there any option to direct into contact with them and kick them to wake up at least?

No sry. Its twice the same id on the same account. I have only one MS Account. And i am the only one using it. My wife isnt interested in gaming.

The technote says:

if you change the motherboard. We used to be able to help you move the license using Phone Activation, but now they want it moved this way. Microsoft explains it here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/…

When you sign into a new Device from your MS Account, or new motherboard on an existing device, it should add the Device to your MS account. This is only a courtesy to be able to move the license to another device, is not a proof of ownership or any kind of license, just a linkage.

Since you just changed Mobo and CPU, the second paragraph applies to you, no?

Reactivating Win10 was no problem. Its just the two identical ids in Microsoft Store that bother me now and that one has a computer with 63GB RAM and the other one with 64GB RAM. Ofc one is the old one but which is it? I just want to delete it to make sure it will not cause any trouble in future.

what motherboard you have? and what about “old” mobo?

The old one was Asus ROG Stryx X570F Gaming and the new one is Asus TUF Gaming X670E Plus

DESKTOP-XXXXXXXX.txt (240.9 KB)

Starting from MS Store directly worked out until now. Starting directly without MS Store did not work out since i changed MoBo and CPU (and RAM btw).

Go to https://account.microsoft.com/
Log in
Click Devices tab
Click the drop down arrow next to “PC Name” and search X670E, X670E-PLUS, X670EPL or similiar.

Until clicking devices tab everything was ok. But there are two Desktop PCs with absolutely the same IDs and there is no drop down arrow next to “PC Name”. Your intention was finding the Desktop with the new MoBo, right? I tried that before too, but they differ only in two aspects.

1.) One has 64 and the other 63GB RAM
2.) Below the ID in grey letters one says “System Product Name” and the other “PC”

Below both i have the option to show details which reveal only the to differences i posted above (1+2), plan a repair, search my device (where it is located) and onlinesupport which is useles since it seems to be limited to Microsoft Surface devices. The Microsoft support is just one thing: A joke!
The MS Store or problems within the store practically did not exist for Microsoft.

are you sure mate?

Yes mate.

Rename your PC.

1 Click start → system → about → Rename this PC

Type (for example) NewMobo → Next

Restart now.

2 Update OS via windows update - update drivers and be patient

I am sorry. You make such an effort for … THX a lot! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

In my case, it looks like that:

Anyway, by doing more research i found out two new aspects.

1.) One ID has the extra information (i just found in Browser Device Management) that there has been installed apps first at August 22nd, 2023 which is exactly the day i activated my Win10. Probably that’s the new ID? Not sure what will happen if i delete the old one BUT …

2.) MS allows up to 10 devices per account so that i think this is probably not a problem to me. Is it worth the risk, since i can start MSFS2020 from MS Store?

Your idea renaming this desktop is really clever btw :+1:

What i still do not understand is why i will be asked to put in a disk when starting from desktop icon for msfs?

Exactly - now you know what …

Remove “old device”.

Thank you

Not now but in the future … who knows

“Please insert the Microsoft Flight Simulator Game Disc” Error message – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support (zendesk.com)

I know the possible reasons for that disk problem, but i am not sure if i triggered it cause of my two desktops with the same ID. On the other hand it should be no problem since i can have ten of them.

Just remove devices via microsoft account → devices and restart PC.

You mean the old device?

All - old/new and restart PC.

I am afraid that i cant start msfs then anymore if remove all devices in the end.
