Two different Community folders!

I am confused! Seem to have two different Community folders, with different content, depending on how I access them. The in-game Developer data says my Community folder is at:

Users\myname\AppData\Local\Packages\MicrosoftFlightSimulatorxxxxxxxxx\LocalCache\Packages\Community.

This folder contains:

airport-lid1-caserarazzo…
christian1984-ingamepanel-fskneeboard…

However, If I access the Comunity folder at D:MSFS it contains:

orbx-landmarks-taipei-city-pack…
orbx-mesh-alaska…)
readme Kantishna Apt.txt…
esd-kantishna-5z5…
fskneeboard-panel…
main-hall_VUjHi…

How can this be? What should I do? Which Community folder should I use to install Addons? And how exactly should I install Addons?

Thanks for info/advice/help,

Don.

For your second folder, do those addons actually appear in the sim i.e. your kneeboard one?

Also, are you using an addon linker, and you have some in the “real” community folder, and others are stored elsewhere, and linked in?

If you do, your “Community” folder, the first one, might look something like this:

The Navigraph ones are actually in that folder, the others have the little link icon on them, indicating they are not actually in the “Community” folder, but elsewhere. The sim neither knows or cares about this, and just loads them.

Hi

You have installed your community folder on a separate drive the one on D: you should be installing your addons in to this one.

I have also done the same thing, I also have a community folder located in Users\myname\AppData\Local\Packages\MicrosoftFlightSimulatorxxxxxxxxx\LocalCache\Packages\Community but that one is completely empty and always has been.

Hey guys.
I have been using this sim since the moment it came out, and just now I learned that there are two community folders. I believe one is a virtual one correct? If that is not the case, I really don’t want to place anything on the one located on the C drive, for obvious reasons. I installed the GTN 750 folders that I downloaded from PMS5, and I placed them on my MODS folder located on another drive, not the C drive. I use addon linker so they were linked to the community folder located on the drive I have the sim installed, which is not, again, the C drive. Since I had some problems for the past 3 days updates with updates and downloads, now the GTN folders are not showing on the aircraft, not a single one, and I was told by the PMS5 guys that I have to install them on the correct folder using the correct path. So if the folders were showing before while located on the MODS folder and they were showing linked to the community folder on my H drive, why are they not showing now and why do I have to install them on the C drive?
Thanks for any help on this

Should I delete the community folder located on the C drive? My community folder, the one I always use, is located on my H drive where I have the sim installed.

No I don’t believe you should delete the folder on your C drive !!!

If you look at your folder structure when you go in to the C: drive and go to C:\Users\myname\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe you will see that the folders in there are like shortcuts they have little arrows in the bottom left corner, I believe they are called Junctions and are created by the operating system so that it knows where to go to find the correct location of your installation. I am not a windows expert, but you can see this if you look at the folder structure via the CMD window, example of one of mine below.

16/09/2021 14:11 <JUNCTION LocalCache [D:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-2657479357-996607702-2346967692-1003\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache]

You can see above it points to my D: drive where the simulator is actually installed.

This i absolutely normal and fine of you installed msfs on another drive than your System because msfs is a Windows app… I was confused also but it seems they are just links to the right folder in this case to your d drive. Do Not delete the community folder on c, just leave it there
