UI for Settings - General - Advanced Options - Muti-Window is not working

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

The UI for adding additional windows in MSFS has always been very fragile but it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.

The issues have been annotated onto the screenshot above. In summary:

  1. If you add TWO additional screens, i.e. for a 3-screen layout, then the sim FORGETS which way round those screens are the next time you open the sim, i.e. the left and right screen are reversed and you have to start again.

  2. Whole chunks of the UI have become non-functional, as listed on the screenshot.

In general the MSFS ‘UI’ in general is VERY fragile - is it webdev stuff? I.e. the relationship between the ‘slider’ and the ‘text input’ is generally hit and miss with the slider consistently being so awkward to use (e.g. you can only set one of these windows to +/- 2 degrees via the slider which is not accurate enough, but these bugs (or bad design) mean you can’t type the correct value into the text box.

For MSFS 2024, the reality is you’re setting up these 3 screens every time you go into the sim, so the unusable UI is a significant impediment.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

The left/right multi-windos being reversed is every time I start the sim, AFAIK.

The extreme difficulty of inputting the required settings is a bit hit and miss, e.g. you CAN edit the window offset settings when you first input them, but if you need to tweak after that then only the slider works. Basically that means a Reset to Defaults and maybe restart the sim to have another go.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

With a 3-screen setup, ADD a window for the left screen, make it full screen (not windowed), adjust the offset parameters.

Now do the same for the right screen.

Save and exit the sim.

Restart the sim. See if your screens are the same way round (they never are for me). Try adjusting the alignment of the screens (to correct the fact they’ve been reversed) - this is only possible via the sliders.

Try deleting either of the added screens - for me the ‘delete’ icon does nothing.

Im not sure if it still works but when you select the slider with the mouse and hover mouse above this selected slider try to use arrow left or right key to adapt the numbers the tunning par click is 0.1 plus for the right and 0.1 minus for the left.
Use enter to get out of digits and esc to save
In usercfg.opt you can further tune beyond 0.1

As requested, please report only one bug per topic.

For point #1, see existing report: Multi-Window positions are incorrect and cannot be saved
For the Window deletion issue, see existing report: SETTINGS - Unable to Delete New Render Window

Feel free to create 2 separate reports for the “Display mode” and “rotation offset” issues.

Thank you !
