• yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• If you only disable City Markers but not the Landmark & Airport ones, City Markers will still be displayed.
You need to disable all the 3 to don’t see the City Markers

  • N/A. There’s definitely a bug here, but I’m going to do this a different way. See below.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

  • I don’t think that the turning on and off of markers is the culprit. I think that it’s the combination of the three “Markers” switches in the Flight Interface settings that determines the outcome. I have mapped them out into a truth table, as follows. (Note that a green circle means that the outcome is expected and everything is fine. A red circle indicates that the outcome is unexpected.)
Landmark Markers City Markers Airport Makers Landmark Markers visible? City Markers visible? Airport Markers visible?

I cannot see any City marker at all, on your picture. Only one Airport marker and one Landmark marker.

I have added a red circle around “Orlando” city name.

OK, can you see this marker with option for POI markers OFF?
For there are still no City markers, only POI markers, some of them with city names.

If I turn off both POI & City markers (but have the airport marker on) then I don’t see them:

This is as expected and match with the excellent summary made by @N316TS, (thank you for that !) :

Yes, You can see Airport markers when they are turn ON.
Can You see the City markers with POI markers turn OFF?

I think all combinations, answers can be found in the table provided by @N316TS.

Yes, there are 2³ = 8 possible combinations with those three switches.

Did anyone notice a change in this table, since 1.5.2.0 was released?

These two have changed (for the better) for me:

Landmark Markers City Markers Airport Makers Landmark Markers visible? City Markers visible? Airport Markers visible?
On Off Off No :green_circle: No :green_circle: No :green_circle:
On Off On Yes :green_circle: No :green_circle: Yes :green_circle:

Could someone kindly confirm?

Nope here for me. It seems that the city markers are linked to the landmark markers, whenever landmark markers are off, citymarkers are not there as well, whenever lanmark markers are on, city markers are as well visible, regardless of the citymarkers settings:

Landmark Markers City Markers Airport Makers Landmark Markers visible? City Markers visible? Airport Markers visible?
Off Off Off No :green_circle: No :green_circle: No :green_circle:
Off Off On No :green_circle: No :green_circle: Yes :green_circle:
Off On Off No :green_circle: No :red_circle: No :green_circle:

On On Off Yes :green_circle: Yes :green_circle: No :green_circle:
On On On Yes :green_circle: Yes :green_circle: Yes :green_circle:

This is still like before for me.

Thanks. Will check again.

Okay, I redid all scenarios and came across this. For me, in 1.5.2.0, there is no longer any combination of switches that brings up city markers. (Also, I copied the wrong line in my last post. So ignore that one.)

I have a feeling that the citymarker Option doesn’t work at all and some bigger towns are now categorised as landmarks. Cause I remember that I used to see the markers over smaller rural towns in my region, which I don’t anymore.
Only for the bigger towns with around 5000 inhabitants and more do I see markers when landmarks are set to on.

Interesting.

In my testing, above, I tested in two major cities, and in both cases, when landmarks were on, the cities were not labeled.

It just got feedback-logged (thank you, Jayne), so hopefully the powers that be can figure it out.

Well, I testet in more rural areas around lake constance in southwest germany and over New York.

I’m now almost convinced, that it is an categorization issue:

Over New York there are actually 2 New York markers, when landmarks and city markers are on, one written “New York” ( the landmark) and one written “NEW YORK” (city marker):

If I then disable the city markers, the “NEW YORK” disapears, but the “New York” stays:

Although, for smaller cities, like “Singen” ( west of lake constance SW Germany), they seem to be categorized as landmarks, so they only dissapear when landmarks are off.
With landmarks “on” and city markers “off”:

I’m unsure if that is as intended, but it is definitely different than it used to be, as I always flew only with landmarks on and never saw the “Singen” mark over it. I only ever saw marks over POIs like castles and such.
