Unable to launch certain mission types - Briefing UI missing

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

In career mode, I am unable to load into specific mission types. I first thought it was due to connectivity issues and server performance, but it actually seems to only affect certain career mission types.

For me, this only affects Ferry Flight and Light Cargo mission types. However, the underlying issue might not be tied to the specific mission types, but could very well be a spec/cert combination issue, or manifest in other ways?

When I select either a ferry flight or a cargo mission on the map, the map zooms to a certain zoom state, but the briefing UI does not come up. I can cancel the loading (ESC flag bottom left), and it shows the loading indicator in the bottom right, but the UI will never show. I tried letting it load for over half an hour, but the briefing UI never shows.

Task manager network monitor shows an initial loading effort at ~40mbps, which stops after a few seconds.

I first thought it may be connected to length of the mission route, or the route leading out of the ‘discovered’ area of the map, or a specific aircraft, but that does not seem to be the case. Instead, the mission type itself seems to be locked somehow, as the other mission types and also free flgihts and cert flights load just fine.

Yes, no custom content installed

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Always, persistent. I Tried:

  • Restarting the sim
  • Restarting the router, using a different network adapter and DNS setting (Google DNS)
  • Happens on different days
  • Happens regardless of peak hours/user influx (tried at 5am German time as well as prime time)

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Unsure. I suspect the career save might be corrupt in some way, maybe due to crashes during load/save (had a few on day 2)

I’m also experiencing the same issue, I was able to do the very first cargo and ferry missions that the game gives you, but now I can’t load into any of them at all. Extremely frustrating.

Since I don’t think There is any capacity to look into my actual data, I might just test resetting my career and will report back if it changed anything. Better to do it now than when I am further along.

I’m having the same issue with light cargo missions they just arnt showing up ? Any help would be appreciated

Take a look at the video link. The missions themselves are showing up correctly, it’s just the briefing screen after clicking them that does not load the UI.

Are you experiencing the same? Or are your missions not showing up? In the lattter case, I found out you actually HAVE to do the ‘golden’ intro mission before you can see the mission icons on the map for each type. It might be a bit hidden around the globe though, I think I had to fly the cargo intro mission in madagascar or so …

Update:

Don‘t bother resetting your career. I tried.

Just unlocked ferry flights again in a fresh career, and after doing the golden intro mission, ferry flights won’t have a briefing Ui again. I assume it will be the same for cargo once I unlock that.

What bothers me: it seems like this is not a problem a lot of people have?

Exactly the same thing happening to me. The only missions I can do is ‘first flight’ yet all the money is to be had in the other missions.

Exactly the same thing here. i havent progressed to the light cargo yet though. just curious what color icon is the light cargo missions? the ferry flight is blue and wont work and the flight seeing and first flight are green icons and work for me…

Light cargo is blue as well.

I wouldn‘t think it‘s because of the color, but yeah. Generally the blue ones don’t work for me

same problem here , make the career mode unplayable unfortunatly

Same for all missions with a nice payout … the only missions that work are the green icon and purple for skydive, and the golden to start a new path… all the other are infinite loading

Update:

I tried a clean reinstall, and it seems to work now. Maybe during the numerous alt-f4s, crashes and task manager force quits on the chaos days something got corrupted?

I Uninstalled and reinstalled from Xbox app on windows. All my control profiles were still there. I can now load the missions that would not work previously.

Maybe try repairing first? I have a pretty beefy connection, so reinstalling took me 8 minutes.

Anyone found a solution for the steam version ? i have the same issue and tried everything (reinstall, verify game files, resetting career, several different settings, etc…). nothing works…

OMG THANK YOU reinstalled now everything work perfect, kept control settings but had to redo graphic for vr !! thanks man

I tried reinstalling the game, but it didn’t work, is there anything else someone knows to try

Thank you it worked by doing the gold mission in Madagascar and now I can do the light cargo missions, wish there was a way I can filter missions instead of scrolling through them all. But thank you anyway !

i’ve been having this issue since launch… and it is insanely frustrating because career mode was the only reason i bought FS2024… i’m so sick of doing flightseeing missions, but they are the only missions i can get to work… i’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling, tried starting a new career, tried moving the game to a different drive, tried using a VPN… i’ve tried everything i have found on this forum that seems like it might even remotely work all to no avail… i don’t know what else to do
