Unable to select Continue on "Your last session ended unexpectedly" screen


ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Previously I was able to play MSFS 2024 via the Xbox controller on xcloud. However, since the patch, when I launch the game, I am presented with the “Your last session ended unexpectedly” screen with selection options to Continue or proceed in Safe Mode. I feel like this screen should never appear via xcloud anyway, but regardless, it appears that the controller input is not recognized at this early stage, and thus I cannot click on any option to proceed. The previously playable game is now unplayable for me.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Have the game crash on the previous patch.
  2. Launch the game via xcloud with the new patch.
  3. Try to use the controller (or anything else) to proceed past the screen.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:

Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. While there are known issues with this controller on PC via xcloud, the game was playable regardless. Now it is not, purely because of this one popup, and not because of any pre-existing issue.

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?

No.

[PC, MSFS 2020 Only] Are you using DX11 or DX12?

Whatever xcloud uses. I believe it’s DX11.

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?

GeForce RTX 3060

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

Just sat down to play this evening, and I’m now presented with the same issue.
Xbox One, using the cloud. Dialogue box with “continue” or “safe mode”, won’t respond to the Xbox controller.

Seems the Xbox version of FS is following on the footsteps of the Desktop predecessors, you spend more time trying to get it to work than you do playing…

Update: I just tried now and was able to proceed, so they may have fixed something in the cloud.

Nope. I just tried and it is still stuck, not responding to the controller on Xbox One via XCloud.

i’m also having this issue on with xcloud on macos, using either chrome or safari.

any workarounds that work?

• Following the latest update I am getting exactly the same message in XBox X. Can’t move on into the game.

The issue is resolved after 1 hour for me.

I’m having the same issues with mine when i okay on my xbox s but when i play on my sons Seris X i have non issues. Seems to me its when i play on the cloud only.

An hour? Blimey.

Three is a workaroud about this issue, but I don’t have full screen Mode option in my settings :confused:

IThe work around can’t be used on XBox consul. All sounds a bit technical to me as well. I bought XBox to plug and play. Some hope😭

In the meantime I’ve solved this issue by deleting Reserved Space for this Game

Literally the same problem I contacted them. They told me to do the same thing you did and I don’t have that sentence either not on my Xbox or online game pass or Xbox website

Using Xbox gamepass through a Samsung tv and an Xbox controller. Use to be able to play with a dysfunctional button mapping. Now I’m stuck with the same message
