Just watched a YouTube video where the presenter stated that MS/Asobo has recommended users Uninstall then Reinstall MSFS 2024. Related to downloading possible corrupt files before MS fixed the Server issues, or something like that.
Is this recommendation correct?
Iâve been having an increasing number of issues such as an error message when loading at the point of âactivating sim objectsâ and hanging when trying to start a career mission. Both seemed to be at a point where there was interaction with the cloud servers.
In the end I did an uninstall and reinstall and it fixed both the above issues. It seems like something had corrupted first when they switched CDNs and then with the latest update as that is when the issues each started.
It was a final attempt to fix the issues for me but does seem to have dealt with them from experience so far.
Are you PC based & purchased from the MS Store?
If so, what Uninstall procedure did you use??
Luckily 2024 reinstall is not that big of a deal with 2024. 2020 on the other handâŠ
I donât know anything about any recommendation.
But I decided to try it.
USA
MS Store
- Windows 11 apps - Uninstall FS2024
- MS Store Download FS2024
- Took around 5 minutes
- 11.99 GB
- around 250 Mbps average download speed
- FS2024 automatically installed where I had it. K:\FS2024
- FS2024 runs fine
- Controls mapping still as they were (saved in the cloud)
- UserCfg.opt reset to default
K: drive has only FS2024 on it
K: has 29.5 GB of data on it
Of that the MSFS app is 11.99 GB.
I saw that video; disregard. The re-install doesnât move your sim on to some magical storage somewhere.
I did some reinstalling today, and it seems broken to me. I was expecting it to ask me to sign in again, but it goes right to the main screen with my old avatar setup. Clearly it just copies the old install back down from the cloud.
Was career progression maintained?
I want to reinstall too. The same question
Was career progression maintained?
Its not for a âmagicalâ storage relocation. The reason to re-install was because of the belief that some files may have gotten corrupted during the Day One, Week One server issues.
Yeah, thatâs the theory, but no evidence or proof.
Can it help?
Not really because all it verifies is the base installer. The installer would have to verify the files in the cloud.
2024 reinstall - been to the MS Store where I purchased it but canât find a Download option.
Purchase is showing as âCompletedâ
Head scratcher. Luckily I have 2020 to fly while I sort this out!
Yes, I went into Windows Settings Apps and uninstalled from there. Then did a reboot.
Yes and all control settings.
And sadly all the glitches and bugs that were built in by the design team
For me when I went to the Xbox app after uninstalling the play button had changed back to install so I just pressed that and it reinstalled.
A reinstall fixed a lot of issues I was having, and doesnât take much time to do.
It certainly wonât hurt to try!
After reinstalling, when I pressed play for the first time a new dialogue came up saying that it was synchronising files or settings - it was very quick so I canât remember the exact wording - but Iâm guessing that was my user profile being syncâd from the cloud.
I purchased a PC version from the MS Store.
I have uninstalled it ok, but canât find a âReinstallâ button anywhere.
Where should I look?
Thank you
Go to the Xbox app in your Windows menu.
You can install it from there.
