Unpopular opinion - is MSFS better on xbox than PC visually?

Those are amazing shots, its amazing that we can now play a great flight game on a console with these kind of visuals.

I dont have a an XB and despite its performance the only reason I wont go to it for MSFS is that it is as you say - locked.

I like the tweakability of PC, that you can dive into the files and tweak things and I just find it easy to manage the installation when it comes to modding.

But theres one scenario where the XB would come in handy for me - traveling.

I am due to begin a long global travel that will last a year and then after a break I’ll be traveling again. As fun as it all is I do miss my MSFS fix and do not want to get a gaming laptop (I hate laptops with a passion).

I dont know how big this XB is but I carry my PS4 around in a backpack (its been everywhere with me prior to the pandemic). If I can do the same with XB I could be hooking it up to the rental property/hotel TV and flying around with ultra settings :grinning: So you have got me thinking now…!!

It is heavy like I won’t lie…

Oh ok so a bit of a beast…

Will keep tabs on it. Sony made a slim version of PS4 , perhaps down the line MS will do the same as the tech advances!

Can you run msfs on pc aswell as xbox for the same price? NO!

It looks far better on the Series X, than the majority of the setups people have on here. The Xbox is a real beast of a machine. The issues are down to the poor coding and development of the Xbox version, it easily surpasses a high end PC. Digital Foundry found that Xbox runs at Ultra across the board at 4K.

Can you run msfs on a " toaster " aswell as xbox or pc for a lot less price ???

yes you can !! ( Xbox Cloud gaming says hello !! ) .

Honestly with GPU prices the way they are (not to mention availability) cloud gaming for MSFS is sounding more and more appealing. I can run everything on high, but at this point I don’t know if I’ll ever experience ultra settings without taking out a second mortgage. Biggest downside I assume to cloud gaming is you probably can’t use mods.

I’ve actually tried out the cloud gaming ( Xbox Cloud gaming) , and I was shocked . Once you can hook up an Xbox x/s , wired or wireless controller you’re set .

Graphics were not on a par with my gaming rig ( obviously ) , but are still really good . Played it on a laptop ( GTX 860m GPU ) with no issues . ( You can actually play it on your mobile phone !! ) .

Any mods you purchased through MSFS store are available ( tried all the aircraft I have purchased in the store ) .

So , no need to even spend €600 or €2000 !! :joy:

My experience with MSFS on Cloud gaming was a bit hit and miss really. In my sessions it struggled a bit. That was before I decided to install it again.

Yeah, think it’s still in beta . Good internet connection required . Kinda blew me away to be honest . Got it on offer , $1 for two months .

With all these options for MSFS , my days of large expenditures on PCs may be coming to an end !!

It could be that the current XBOX is highly optimized on the graphics chipset, driver, visual filtering and able to perform better than the most high-end / current PC could ever do, even at best tuning …

Must be some dodgy Xbox’s around …

As Alex reported on Eurogamer, there’s should requires some in-sim internal coding enhancements, when it come specifically to the S series

Now, watching the video, on X side, we get the feel of higher smoothness, with lack of stutters we often get on PC, this provide a high sense of immersion and enjoyment

Colossal setup!

You should look into a series S which is very portable and runs msfs 2020 really well or something you can play on with xcloud.

Very difficult to realistically compare on platform to the other via a few screenshots taken at different locations and times etc. One clear advantage a console would have is a pretty much fixed set of components and therefore more obviously possible to hit a sweet spot both with regards to focused optimisations and consistency.

We have no way of knowing how well your PC has been set-up or what other software may be running that could negatively impact the sim. Or for that matter what settings you have set in the sim.
A similar consideration with regards to what you are using as a display and all the trappings that go with that, e.g. quality of, size/resolution, location, set-up.

For some of us there are very much other considerations that may provide a far higher reward of overall immersion that are not available on a console. A couple of obvious ones being support for VR, or availability of hardware controllers.
Personally I could not give up VR or my Virpil Collective for pancake mode and limited hardware support.

Good that you enjoy MSFS, but it is very much a mute point. Most people are likely to stick with a platform that provides them with best overall experience depending on their POV and needs.

Then perhaps you should have said graphics quality in your question because all the things he mentioned have a visual impact and what you asked was "Is MSFS better on Xbox than PC visually? not, Is the graphics quality better on Xbox than PC? which I guess is what you are really asking.

I would say just the sheer size increase on the average 4K TV is going to have an impact but its doubtful that the graphics looks better on Xbox that a high end graphics card and really good monitor.

At the end of the day, Xbox and PC look essentially identical. Everyone has an opinion, but things are quite different now days vs. when people would compare the Xbox one to PC, or even the 360 to PC. There used to be blatantly noticable differences, even without comparing images side by side. Now they’re effectively at the same level.
