Bad reviews hurt Windows 98 SE (remember the constant “This program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down.” ? )
Bad reviews hurt Windows ME.
Bad reviews hurt Windows Vista.
And even to this day, bad reviews hurt Windows 10. Nearly on a daily basis, various tabloids in UK (Daily Express is one of them) write articles about Windows 10 bugs that will make you think the end of the world is tomorrow, and hackers will exploit the zero-day bug to steal your money any minute now.
“Millions of Windows PC users are still vulnerable to cyberattacks, and this is why”
Of course this will hurt any company in one way or the other. Guess what though? I’ve been using Windows 10 since 2016 and never had an issue. Not even one. And none of my money or data has been stolen so far. And even with all these issues, whether they are legit or not, Microsoft have still been doing very well financially by selling Windows, along with many other products.
If I ever have an issue, I’d be sure to go online and constantly whine about it to prove how intelligent I am and to make me feel better about the fact that I’ve found flaws with a product made by a company whose current market valuation stands at 1.3 trillion US dollars
Have you seen the details of the huge advertising campaign for the FS2020 on Xbox launch. It’s quite impressive. Bound to generate a huge demand. The sales in Japan are also very good. And you can’t get a flight controller anywhere - all sold out. These few bad reviews must really be making an impact on global sales of FS2020.
Agree, no issues with WIN10. Antivirus is anyway snake oil. Period. If you don’t visit P… sites, 1337 l33t sCriPT-kiDdy sites and don’t klick on every link without thinking, you are usually save. Ok, you need at least also a pi-hole or change the DNS to 1.1.1.2.
It is your assertion that I do not care about the quality of the Flight simulation because I do not agree with your opinions that I find offensive. I spent 22 years in the military defending people’s rights to their opinions, but I do not need to accept you derivations from those opinions. Not sorry if that offends you.
when i saw the trailers announcing the FS2020, i tought"YES THIS IS IT" that the aircrafts were even realistic than the grafic senery but after a few days i was stunning to see how poor FS2020 is beside FSX about flight dinamics, the FSX world map show the geografic position and possibility to create awaypoint and save in the fltpln, when you clic any airport all data information appear(com/nav/ILS course/frequencies/etc…)and possibility to print any waypoint with data/navlog.Aircraft parameters, beavour and specs are accurate.ATC voice feel like realy person talk to you.Until now MSFS is not what advanced simmers expected and many of us are desapointed due the fact that everybady was blinded through the amazing grafics and Asobo’ be now face to face with the reality . MSFS is still a simple game and i think that it shall be for a few mounds yet. If Asobo mix FSX realisme wiht MSFS grafics together, it will be perfect and i hope that it will coming soon. It’s not necesssairy to push them in the ground. I am a Belgian simmer sinds 2012 Greats from belgium
If Asobo mix the FSX realisme with MSFS grafics,i think that will be perfect. we have just to give him the time to setting it right. It’s better help him than pushing into the ground. The landscape is really good. greats from belgium
I think now the same as you, many fjight simmers are disappointed to discover that MSFS is not yet ready but i think that Asobo’s team working hard now to setting right the massive lot of bugs and we have now to be patient because the landscape is really breathtaking. I am flight simmer sinds 2012 wiht FSX and tried P3d and XPlane but i prefer FSX. If Asobo insert accuratly the aircraft specs and mostly airliners,be sure! i will enjoy it. The world map in FSX is better because he show the Airways waypoints with the names lattitude/longitude graduation to.Apply this in MSFS Should be better. Pop up instrument panels /Navlog included vor&ndb&airport informations freq/remaining distance to go.Much usefull items in FSX may be adapted into MSFS.And FINALY ERASE THE STUPID"USER" into the MCDU flight data because it’s not a Waypoint.
Yep, with this comment all the way. Hands over fists better than FSX, and when have you not had bugs, I got them in the yard, every time I turn around something else needs to be fixed in the yard. Got to dig out steps, fix some rotten boards on the deck, cut the grass. Life is what it is, some bugs in all of it. This is such a great way to not worry about something else.
Absolute nonsense. The issues, bugs, insanely bad patching/testing regime - they are all part of the MSFS 2020 user experience and the user experience is the product.
I think most people understand that software has bugs and particularly with new software, however, a mandatory patch that introduces new issues or resurrects issues that were previously resolved is not acceptable. Particularly if the user has no way of rolling that patch back.
Could you imagine buying a new car and from time to time the parking brake stops working and randomly releases itself (yes I think JEEP had one with this problem). Then the manufacturer pushed out an OTA patch but instead of fixing the parking brake (which they promise they will do in the next 6 months or so) they decided to change some of the icons on the nav unit to fit in with some third party marketing promo being run. Unfortunately after that patch the nav guidance occasionally just changes to a different destination - without any notification. Later they push a new patch that fixes the issue of the parking brake randomly releasing itself, but now, from time to time the parking brake stays engaged and won’t release at all. Additionally the headlights now randomly switch themselves off while driving and refuse to go back on until you’ve stopped the car and cycled the ignition. The nav is still broken by the way…
I could keep going on but I think you see the point. Most reviews of this car would be bad, mention that it has many issues and the manufacturers unacceptable attitude and approach towards resolving those issues. They would still be reviews of the car.
This sim has amazing potential but it was clearly released too early and the developers attitude/approach towards bug-fixes/updates is disgraceful. They are clearly under resourced and lack the skills required to manage such a complex project.
Unless they ONLY mentioned the handbrake and all its flaws and didn’t mention the engine, the seats the bodywork etc, in which case its not a balanced review.
You could make a 3 hour long epic just looking at the problems in MSFS - I don’t think many would argue against that, but there are some stunningly good aspects too which many here totally overlook.
At the moment, I’ll take that under resourced, skill-less team every day of the week because my only other options are the fully resourced, highly skilled teams that give us XP and P3D, neither of which I want to use any more.
But it doesn’t have to be a balanced review to be valid. I think you are getting confused with a professional journalists review which is supposed to give a full analysis of good and bad, and a user review, which is a snapshot of the users experience. In the previous example I doubt many of the car owners would have noticed or cared how great the paint job was or how comfortable the seats were while they battled with the various issues that made the car unsafe and unreliable. That doesn’t mean that their bad reviews of the car advising other consumers to steer well clear of that car would be invalid.
That’s your choice and there is no problem with that. My point was that bad user reviews are fully valid and it’s good that people are warned about the issues before parting with their money. If like you, they still want to jump in the boat that’s fine.
I’m glad that I read the store reviews and these forums before I parted with £120 for the premium deluxe DVD edition - to then discover I’m paying to be a beta tester… I think the worst thing is that I’ve seen the state of things get worse after the last patch and the developer is in no hurry to resolve that. The autopilot is an absolute pig now and it’s not really marked to be fixed until update 9!
Having signed up to the £1 game pass and tried things out before making a full purchase I don’t feel quite so bad about the state of things - disappointed but not robbed. That is purely down to the honest user reviews.
"This screenshot generator is amazing"
That should be the title. The simulator part is somewhere between Early access station and Work in progress station, stucked it seems…
Also, about the devs that should be onboard : that is actually pretty obvious, but remember that Ms made more than once the mistake to negates their obligations towards 3PDs, and they are already starting to again, with comments from Jorg like “I don’t think I’d like another company to fiddle with our weather system”…
As a community, we have a responsibility to watch over Ms/ Asobo’s shoulders to tell them if/ when they are doing things right or wrong. I really hope that the community (as a whole, and I include myself in it) isn’t as dumb as it has been in the past (let’s just say Ms Flight or FSW…). We need to support, not to trash. BUT criticising with advices, reports with illustration to what you aim to get etc is the way to go.
Being ecstatic to the product right now is the WORST MOVE the community can make…
I’m in agreement with pretty much everything you say. A user review is a personal thing so it’s not for me to say whether it is valid or not. I just don’t give any weight to any review that is polarised (in either direction) because there is likely little balance and the guts of the positivity/negativity is likely summarised more constructively in other reviews.
