Unreal Weather - Live METAR Mod

the one that says 1.11.5.0 is the one working with the latest update

Thanks…

@KYOTJ: It updates the weather in real time. You can control how often in the mod’s settings.

This is simply amazing, no more stutters with instant aerosol enabled.
And now i can enjoy the blazing sun and haze / fog conditions while having proper metar based weather.

Fantastic! Even better now!
Do you only need to toggle the ‘instant change’ to 1 for activation to see aerosol, or both toggles,
i.e active aerosol and instant?

i have both on 1 and it works as advertised
I regret purchasing REX to be honest, wish i knew about duesen his work before.
He does a better job while keeping it freeware

Guys how is the weather injection - smooth or do you see rapid weather changes like rex ??

When using aerosol both to 1 - any stutters experienced ?

What about high level winds ? Accurate or not ?

AND let me say thank you  this is an awesome work - what you do is far better than REX and its free - thank you soo much

i had like a microsecond hit, not like a 1 second + hang
it felt more like a 50~100ms little hit, barely noticeable.
at transition my FPS stayed the same around 50fps

The winds were pretty solid for me.
I didn’t test the snow build up yet tho, i honestly have no expertise in snow metar build up so i’ll leave the feedback of that to others that know about it.

Duesen is open minded and actually listens to feedback, it’s pretty much near perfection at this point for me

@TundraJeans3649: Winds aloft are not part of METAR reports, unfortunately, so they are “simulated” in this mod.

@duesen Great mod! I’ve been disappointed with REX lately. Especially with some of the attitudes on their discord. Regardless, I’ve been really impressed with how far this mod has come. It’s great seeing this type of creativity back in the MSFS community. Was really excited to see the snow on the ground after the conversation you and I had via email. Looking forward to future updates! Strong work!

Just be sure to get Duesen a cup of coffee every one in a while, find the link on his blog near version 1.0’s anouncement… you know he’s worth it! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the update, Duesen!

Hello, everyone, what is the best setting to have very smooth use with unreal wheater. I have instant aerosol on and

metar_polling_frequency_minutes: 10,
weather_transition_span_seconds: 50,
weather_transition_step_seconds: 0.02

Just want to say this is fantastic. Loaded and used today. Went to KMHT using MSFS live weather. The METAR said moderate snow and fog with 400’ ceiling. MSFS live weather showed a few cumulus clouds with no snow on the ground and no snow falling. Then switched to Unreal and got snow on the ground with good depiction of the snow falling. Absolutely a great Add-On.

Thanks,
Garry

Really like the addon but The clouds look lower in graphic quality and more pixelized than using the live weather fs2020, or am I wrong? or is there something wrong with the installation?

Best and thx for the aplication

that’s impossible, the addon just changes the values according to metar in weather settings.
it doesn’t change anything with the game / graphics etc

Did anybody ever have the problem that the clouds would not show up?
I checked my settings, everything is set to multiplayer. The mod is also configured correctly.
Temperatures and pressures are set correctly, but clouds do not show.
I can see that there are some cloud layers set above 50.000ft. Dragging them down by hand doesn’t change anything… Any suggestions?

Hm, okay, I changed that in the config file. However this should not change weather depiction I guess.
If I chose MSFS weather some clouds will show. Could it be that the METAR report is simply incomplete?
I had the same behavior in the PNE, however there the METAR was really CAVOK. I will check again

The //// indicates info not available for the METAR, probably auto generated, it does not report clouds so Unreal just interprets the info in the METAR. MS weather is different and based on Meteo Blue I think it is, so more a forecast than actual weather but avoids these ptfalls I guess, I prefer METAR generated weather myself.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense.
Unreal weather is working for me at different stations. Guess I was unlucky with the examples that I picked. Thanks for the help
