Unwanted Pushbacks and Assisted Coms

I do have ATC assistance on but it seems after the last update I’ve been calling out for pushback as soon as the engine cranks. I’m not anywhere near through the checklist. Is the sim supposed to be doing this? I’m just at a little GA airport and have a crazy amount of ground crew all over the place.

I did have a ATC assist failure today that forced me to do the coms. I liked it on ground but it felt very awkward to be opening menus and clicking on things when trying to fly while taking off or landing. ATC AI has even been inconsistent and sometimes not asked for clearance.

I’d like to learn the radio communications better as I find it the most confusing aspect of the flight experience. I was a communications officer in the civil air patrol but that was another lifetime ago.

As soon as your radio turns on it will start automatic ATC communication including pushback

First thing I do getting “aboard” the aircraft before turning on the power, I turn off copilot radio duties. I’m then free to power up the aircraft, go through checklists, and ask for pushback on my own time. I control the radio until I’m ready to takeoff, at which time radio duties are handed over to the first officer. I will resume radio duty myself when I’m back on the ground.

Works for me.

I forgot about the Flight Assistant menu!

Strange thing is, I have been flying the sim about 3 weeks now and this is the first time the forced pushback started happening.

In my case, I have the push to talk button on my yoke (honeycomb alpha) assigned to “ATC panel choice 1”, which always contains the default (expected) response from the moment you have been cleared for takeoff, so you can just click the button, without the need to go to the ATC menu.

Thanks for the tip. I’m also going to try pilot2atc as I see many people speak highly of it.

Even knowing the phonetic alphabet, it’s hard to decipher the chatter. I’ve even tried using the weather frequencies to get barometric pressure and wind but it’s just so much easier to ref littlenavmap.

I gather much of it goes back to Morse code shorthand?
