As we all know, MSFS 2024 and 2020 have the whole world and is modelled with satellite imagery. The thing that is really annoying is one area could be fully up to date but then if you go a little bit away from there you can find a super old and outdated area. This could be a place like your hometown. We need fully up to date imagery for all places without using mods to get google earth imagery with a watermark. This means we will be all able to have up to date imagery and Xbox users can enjoy too. We NEED the latest Bing maps.
Bing Maps is 5-10 years out of date everywhere. There is no latest imagery on Bing. Funny enough they use the exact same satelite imagery as Google Maps, they just don’t bother updating at the same rate they do
Something that was promised yet never materialised
It is only up to date in some places if you get a world update but that is for certain areas which is why we need a full worldwide update
I thought MSFS 2024 would have updated satellite imagery but in reality it just has all the world updates from 2020.
Sorry guys but you’re shooting for the moon. Updating satellite imagery is not just pressing a button. We’ve been told repeatedly of how elongated the process is, not to mention political and financial restraints. The relatively small amount of improvement we have seen has taken a long time and any more will be very dependant on commercial reality.
Thing is, since MSFS2024 has been released I’m pretty sure the imagery in 2020 has improved significantly which, though I may be wrong, leads me to believe the latest IS being used, in both versions.
The info from the dev livestreams was, that with the FS2024 release the latest available data from bing would be integrated.
Do we have examples, where Bing is newer than FS2024 (except 3D cities of course)? I did not bother to check, the areas I know where OK concerning age.
Or are we just talking about Bing data being pretty old in general? We won’t change that
There is nothing political about it, Bing and Microsoft are just lazy, Bing uses the same satellite imagery as Google, and Google updates their imagery every few months, I do remember Jorg talking about the “difficulty” of getting satellite imagery in Eastern Europe. Well in Romania Bing is 5 years at minimum outdated, while Google’s latest imagery is 3 months old, where is the political difficulty getting the images? I can demonstrate to you that Bing has the same exact imagery as Google using my home city as an example if you really want.
Bing/Microsoft simply do not care about having current satellite imagery
To me, it is very easy to resolve this issues.
It could be done with any including administrative hick-ups in 6months.
200GB base data and a satisfying rich detailed right by now ~500TB in the server.
Just get agreed between you folks, there is been data very long ago.
This is civilian, no harm, educative, remember we are so far as we know just one little specie.
Do you want really to wait another 50years, huge step in between generations till anyone gets over on planet earth with little regional one man bugs?
Who sits on top must have a clear view on what will be for all two legged ones.
With our intelligence this could be done in a flip.
Or does anyone want to go back to 13th century in Europe.
There are bases in this forum, welcome the user’s.
So what’s up there, they can`t do that together.
We tell little kids to do so and we do not???
What in the actual are you even talking about dude.
Apparently its coming but as with so much of FS2024 it wasn’t ready for launch.
Post deleted.
I still don’t understand what he’s talking about.
is it though…?
i used to think that, but the last q&a left me with doubts
the question was asked, and jorg gave a very confusing answer
its not clear to me that its coming
Yeah I’m only going by what others here have said because I wasn’t clear either. As far as I can see in the areas I fly around a lot nothing has changed from FS2020. For example the most recent world update that gave Switzerland new satellite imagery for FS2020 is still the same in FS2020, and its pretty patchy in quality. We’ll just have to wait and see for some clarity.
Not true. Even with world updates it isn’t updated.
Update and expand the photogrammetry also. Not just ground Bing maps
When I load them in Maps, are really nice. No matter result counts.
But on MSFS 2020 I got some some weird squares(?) as far off improvised buildings.
There is to my sense a lack of agreement’s eventually.
I do see these comparison worlds apart on top spots from the Bing Map App.
I like to fly little lovely islands, slowly in my rhythm of joy…
When it will work as so-so question, that what’s anyone would like to see.
A little tiny island on this beautiful planet.
I’ve just had a look at bing maps online and it doesn’t even show a local shopping centre that opened in 2014. I also shows the Comet warehouse that went bust in 2012 so its no wonder that other things aren’t showing correctly in MSFS unlike Google maps.
Google is just way better
