Updates (Checking For)

In Alpha One the average time taken to check for updates was over 3 minutes.
In 1.11.6.0 for me at least, it’s over 5 minutes.
Why?

Checking for updates yesterday took maybe 20 seconds here and it seldomly took longer than that in the past. Could it be your anti virus software or firewall setting?

@Ephedrin87.
Anti virus is Defender with no changes settings. Firewall is Windows 10 with no changes settings. Internet speed is over 1GB. For me this has always been an issue and now it’s worse than ever.
I’ve not seen anything from the makers of this software alerting to issues with virus or firewall but thanks for taking the time to reply.
I reported it several times in the past to the Big Black Hole (zendesk) but never anything back.

My checking updates takes much longer since installing WU4!!

Mine too since WU4. Not sure if ASOBO will fix in the next update. Could it have something to do with addins not showing as installed and MSFS re-indexing the files at each startup?

Hi!

I could get rid of it, by deleting the nav data out of the Official/OneStore folder.
Then, after restarting the sim, it found something to update and went on.
This is working for me since…

Could you please tell which folger exactly has to be deleted?

In the OneStore folder it is called “fs-base-nav”.
But I only took that folder, because it is a small one, so what ever you choose, it should work.

Thank you very much. I tried it again and went out for a walk and when I returned the sim had started. I could imagine that it has nothing to do with the updates acutally, but with the loding procedure of the community / official folder. I emptied my community folder and it went faster than before and when I put the content back, it took longer again (~ 30 minutes).

30 minutes is absolutely unacceptable.I myself have 830 addons in my community folder,it takes me 4.5 minutes to be in the cockpit.Do you have a lot of photosceneries? These often are built of very many files, that could be the reason.

I think I have sorted the long checking for updates!!! Delete Content.xml in C:\Users[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Packages\ Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

MSFS will recreate the file when next launched! This improves my Sim performance as well!
