User access to Asobo telemetry usage data

In this thread the following was posted.

I am wondering if it is possible for MSFS users to interrogate this data. I would like to do some research on Aircraft and Aircraft type. Is there a way this can be done? Asobo recently announced 15 million unique users have accessed/used MSFS. There must be some really good empirical data that would be valuable to developers.

I think MS doesn’t want to release this information publicly. I was amazed the marketplace presentation from FSExpo actually showed some data, but even there the axes weren’t labeled.

Interesting that they bragged about having the data, but won’t let us learn from it, or make decisions using it.
:unamused:

The lawyers for Microsoft and for Asobo would likely never allow the data to be shared like that. They are likely limited to cherry picking statistics from it that help marketing, and only after legal signs off.

I got a warning today from my ISP. I have reached 96% of my usage limit.
I have 250 Mbps plan which includes 1280GB usage limit.

Monthly Usage is typically under 1TB (1000GB):

I have not been using MSFS 2024 until Beta release. I installed it when it was available, Jan 26th?.

Xbox says I have 62.5 Hours in MSFS2024. But I only have 25 Hours of flight time? Did I really spend so much time configuring my controller? I left it idle a few hours?

Daily Breakdown provided by my ISP"

I installed DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) on Jan 17th.
I think I installed MSFS2024 on Jan 25th or 26th. I recorded a flight on the 26th.
Windows data usage:

We can see MSFS2020 used 62.66GB while MSFS2024 used 267.75GB. I fly MSFS 2020 almost daily, multiple hours each time.

Most of my flying in MSFS 2024 was Career mode as it is the newest item in the flight sim AND most of the planes I prefer to fly are not in MSFS 2024. So, only a week to 10 days flying MSFS 2024 is over 250GB. Four weeks is going to gobble up my data plan. It will cost me $30/mo. for an additional 500GB or $50/mo. for unlimited. I need to rethink my flying time.

Good thing my data resets tomorrow.

One thing to keep in mind is that first time flying a plane it will cache that plane, so next time you fly it you shouldn’t use that data again.

If you fly in different photogrammetry zones a lot it will add up though.

In one week, flying MSFS 2024, for 14+ hours in Career Missions used over 177GB (including 1.3.13.0 update).

Your mileage may vary.
