V-Sync vs Frame Limiter

The frame limiter in FS limits the number of frames the sim is going to render. It has a huge impact on both CPU/GPU loads and utilization. I set mine to 30fps and use 2x FG on top of that. For the smoothest performance, set this to lowest even factor of your monitor’s refresh rate you can accept. Then add FG on top.

The settings in the NVIDIA app (VSYNC and Max Frames) limits the number of frames that will be displayed. I have mine set to on and 60. Meaning, if FS was set to 90 max and the NVIDIA app was set to 60, 30 of the frames generated by FS would be discarded—wasted.

They absolutely work together but the Max FPS in 2024 is the number that will really drive overall performance. Without Vsync in the NVIDIA app enabled, you might also get some tearing (lower quality) depending on the monitor.

When setting all of these it is pretty important to know the Min/Max rates of your monitor. My monitor has a fixed rate of 60 which is why I use 30 max from the sim and double it to 60 using FG.

Hope this makes sense.
