V2 UPDATE released! LATEST BN2 Islander available now from Blackbox Simulation

Love this plane so much lately. All I need now is to find a bunch of island airports addons that aren’t defaults and I can make island hoping a dream for me. Currently do a lot of flights out of Nassau with this plane.

I live in Hawai’i (right next to PHNG) and I looooooove flying the Islander and Trislander out here. I’m surprised they never made it out this way, but it is 1/2 way around the world from where they produced. :frowning:

There are a lot of them in the Caribbean though if you want to do some realistic island hopping in a non-British environment.

How can I hide the registration from the tail and the wing? There is always a G-ABCD which is overlaying the painted registration.

Looks like on each model the strobe lights where removed? Doesn’t the Islander have strobes on the wing and tail?

There’s plenty in Australia/NZ though. Might be more to do with the islands being a good distance apart, so no real need for the speedy shutdown/startups.

The BN2 islander service withing New Zealand has some very proud and strong heritage. Going right back to almost the very beginning… 70s

Represented in 50 odd years of proudsrevice with various small airliners within NZ… There was plenty of NZ BN2s liveries online but you may have to wait for them to be updated and there are lots of freeware NZ airports that have been created… maybe treat yourself to Auckland, Wellington, Nelson or Mount Cook payware!! Done to some of the best quality!!

Hopefully there will be a Great Barrier Airlines livery update but if not, their defult livery is not bad… take off from Auckland airport and head out to Great Barrier Island and enjoy the scenery. Then do a return trip to North shore aerodrome… Then do a scenic flight north up the eastern coastline to Kerikeri and beyond…
Do a flight from Auckland to Matamata in a flymysky livery (once again wait for them to come out…) and take some LOTR fanatics to see the shire…

A wellington to Nelson hop on a golden bay livery and enjoy the spectacular Marlborough sounds!!
Then take the iconic Mount Cook Airlines BN2 and do a milford sound flight from Mount Cook to Queenstown to Milford over some breathtaking mountain scenery then finish up with a Stewart island livery flight from Invercargil to Stewart island and if you circumnavigate the island, you may discover a white sandy beach… drop those hikers off on that beach…

Then just go off the “magenta line” download one of many “back country” airstrip packs and simply just explore the beauty that is New Zealand.

You need to edit the AIRCRAFT.CFG and replace the “G-ABCD” with empty quotes “” for that particular livery …
Some Historic paints ( And BBS Livery ) Have Painted Registrations. Most are customizable
So many people wanted editable registrations, they didnt want painted registrations so this was added in V2
Guess you cant please everyone

very few Islanders have Strobes as standard

Lovely little aircraft. Is the V2 version out for Xbox yet?

It will take them approx 2 weeks to integrate it to the Marketplace

Hi, the aircraft.cfg is blank, there is no “G-ABCD”, but it’s still on the livery. If I uncheck show registration in MSFS menu, it’s also still on the livery.

specifically which livery are you referring to ?
I assume you mean the PLAIN BN2A Passenger version ?

Line 95 of the Aircraft.cfg is = atc_id =“G-ABCD”
if you change this to atc_id =“” the serial should not appear
However … there is NO G-ABCD Painted on the Livery so I fail to understand your problem ??

Thanks for the info on mapping the engine start. How about the Fuel Pumps and Fuel Valves though how on earth do you map them. the rest of the buttons abd switches were less problematic to find.

Per the flight manual provided by the developer in a previous link:

• Coupled approaches shall be conducted at a minimum of 80 knots IAS and wing
flaps in either the UP or T. O. position.

• The minimum height above the terrain for autopilot controlled flights is 1000 ft,
except that for a localizer coupled approach this is reduced to 300 ft.

• Coupled approaches shall not be undertaken in conditions more severe than
mild turbulence.

For the fuel pumps I use this:

For V1 I wouldn’t have expected ( or at least trusted ) the MSFS AP to hold GS at 80kts with no flap, v2 might be a bit different as it seems to have a little more lift - but I’ve not tried any sort of approach on the AP yet. It’s not really the Islander’s fault, everything seems to suffer.

Main thing is not to come down the ILS like you’re in an a320.

Is anyone else having an issue where the engines won’t go above 800 rpm and then they just die while one the ground?

I had it happen, but I was able to figure out that it was because MS had reset my controls (I use SPAD.neXt so don’t often go into the MSFS control maps) - the blank maps I created weren’t selected, so there were weird inputs getting to the plane.

Are you able to reproduce the error? I mean, do we know a set of steps that we can use to make it happen?

What do the MP & fuel flow ( and carb temp ) gauges say?

Edit: also, have you let the engines warm at all?
