VATSIM type code query

I have started up the V pilot software for VATSIM for the first time and not getting very far. I have joined a vfr flight sim cub who use Vatsim so I am trying to work out how to use It before my first flight. Before connecting I need to insert a type code, apparently so a controller can see the limitations of my navigation equipment!

I will be flying a cessna 172. Does anyone know what code I should put in?

What’sthat suppose to be..?

Probably vatsim

Whoops, fixed

Correct. Fixed it

For the Cessna 172 your Type Code would be C172/I. The C172 part is straight forward. The /I means you have a transponder with mode C altitude reporting and RNAV (GPS) capability. That’s assuming you are flying the 172 with the Garmin G1000. If you are flying the 172 with the steam gauges change your type code to C172/A. The /A means transponder with mode C and DME.

Thank you for your help. I’m learning slowly lol :+1:

Do you have a cheatsheet. I wanna look up the letters.

It’s on the vatsim website.

Make sure you read all of their help/tutorials/lessons.
