Are there any plans to make the throttle and trim wheel unit available standalone? I’d definitely be interested in that.
might be relevant .. have you ensured the ‘chronometer’ time matches your computer time? Exactly? .. a thought ..
I doubt it, i did ask if they could look at an add-on unit to go between the throttle and main yoke units that had some more buttons and radio/nav knobs on it though, never heard back.
Is that the TB chrono time or sim time?
If the TB time then yes I did set that, and if its sim time, i usually fly in real-time so that would have been set too.
In the end i just got out an old digital sports watch and use that.
That’s a shame. I’m not really interested in the yoke but the trim wheel and the vernier throttle would be great. If they added extra switches, as you mention, it would be even better.
It seems so, that my assumption about the connection full right aileron with chronometer is now confirmed by TB and you.
TB support asked me to recalibrate the yoke. I’ve done that, an made several hours tests. My test are not finished yet - in the moment I have not enough time for simming - and my observations are unchanged: active chronometer (auto or manual) and active training mode generates the random right aileron. Additional I’m suspecting that other buttons are fired randomly too: xbox “share content” occured sometimes without interaction and two time I got a “HAT-1 up”.
Have you observed random button activity too?
In addition to the right aileron, the viewpoint is shifted by the left hat switch, buttons assigned to menus are pressed on their own, and some kind of knob is heard turning.
Also, the input resolution for ailerons and elevators is not 1024 on the XY axis, but only 340 on the X axis for ailerons, 85 in the + direction on the Y axis for elevators, and 35 in the - direction.
When I check the input with a software that can check the input numerically, I can confirm that it is stepping in steps of 3-15 instead of 1 step.
Random button activity - yes, i thought it was me ![]()
Left hat switch left action and random Xbox share button clicks, much less than the hard-overs though.
Not had either since i stopped using the chrono.
That might explain why i need such high negative sensitivity setting on these axes then??
I have had sudden random xbox menus pooping up whilst playing FS2020 when the Xbox dashboard suddenly appears for no reason and the flightsim screen in the background is flashing. if i quickly unplug the usb lead from the Velocity One everything stops and i can go back to playing FS2020 with the controller. it’s as if there is a faulty connection inside the V1, causing this. Very frustrating will have to return for repair, or wait for another firmware update?
The ONLY bug I get with the V1 is my dentents on the throttle quadrant occasionally stop working, never in flight but sometimes between switching profiles or just once in a while when I just sit down to start a new session, no real rhyme or reason. I tried quite a few things systematically, changing profiles and saving, rebooting, unplugging the quadrant and or the entire V1, quit/restarts, signing out, switching to PC and back, etc.
The ONE thing that fixes it every time is to unplug the V1(just do it at the yoke usbc), quit the game, fully reboot the xbox, and then plug the V1 back in after the 'box is back up.
It’s quite likely this may just be some bug in MSFS, if you could believe such a thing! But this is what I found fixes that issue when it comes up from time to time. Since they enabled the feature, it never did it until SU8. May want to try that specific order to refresh the V1 for anything goofy that happens. Nothing else I tried brought them back into service.
im not trying to maon about it but ive had lots of issues with it. if i so much as touch the trim wheel it noses up noses down with no inbetween no gradualness at all even with less than 5mm of movement. i get the pitch the same, so because you still cant save any sensitivity settings other than the top 2 boxes to control axis sensitivity only, cant save any dead zone or reactivity at all. i have to just wiggle he yoke & it shoots up or down or sometimes it doesnt do anything at all. the headphone port did work for half a day then just stopped, i blamed my headset & bought a new one only to find that it was the velocity one not working. turtle beach made this a lot worse by blaming microsoft & also lying to me telling me that the headphone socket doesnt work on any of them yet…id forgot to mention that it had previously worked at this point. also they said the yoke would bed in so that it wasnt so jerky but it hasnt for me, it still sticks & judders/ sometimes the levers get all mixed up as well so what i mean by that is i will search by input & even though im only moving 1 lever or pressing 1 button it will register that ive pressed more than that, im sure thats microsofts fault as well even though my ho5tas doesnt do it, or my keyboards or any of my yokes in the past that i used on my pc running microsoft windows & flight sim x. im not very happy with it really & i have to restart the xbox after about one hour because byb then the velocity one is playing up that much that its the only option left to try & sort it out. i did contact them to tell them that i thought it was faulty but they blamed microsoft & didnt help me at all
Thats odd because my VF1 sensitivities have been saving perfectly since SU8. The jerky trim sounds like a sensitivity - mine os on -50, my aileron and roll are also on around -50 to -60. I only use sensitivity, neutral and dead-zone and they all save correctly.
If the jerky trim is found in the tutorial lessons, mine do as well, I think the lessons are pretty bugged-out and some do not seem to use control sensitivity at all, my one will not allow me to fly some of the lessons.
The multiple inputs selected is a bug with the VF1, they all do it, just delete the input and on the 2nd press it usually detects correctly, very odd behaviour. There are some firmware issues with the VF1, the aileron hard-over caused by the stopwatch being one big one.
I’m not sure if its the electronics picking up stray signals or what but it does have some issues.
I have pitch at -40, along with rudder around -50(pedals for me), ailerons I have at 0. Sensitivity should save if updated to SU8.
You will see in your sensitivity screen that the yoke if released gently may hold up to 5% back elevator off center. Sometimes you set trim or ap and it goes back to true neutral and makes things jump if you change trim. Set an elevator dead zone to 5% or so and move the center off neutral to the same 5% back elevator/left on the chart, giving you a tiny margin of error for neutral. We ‘check’ the yoke by looking at it and moving it all the way back and forth. When flying you may be holding it at under 1/2" back on climb for a while and very gently settling it back to where it rests. There’s enough in the foam pads at center for that to be off 3% or so, then you touch it to push a button and it settles to ‘true’ zero.
When the plane is freshly loaded you also need to wiggle the trim wheel sometimes its set for TO trim, should move all the surfaces in preflight anyway. No issues with button trim(ail/rud) that I’ve had.
This is more of a MSFS control quirk. The trim wheel is an axis. So if you used the axis on a previous flight and had it set to a high nose-up attitude, the next time you touch the trim wheel on a later flight, it will jump to that location. So the trim wheel remembers it’s absolute position, not a relative position like a button up/down press.
Hope I explained that clearly.
No they don’t, have had no trouble with the VF1 exept the hard over when using the stopwatch.
Thats odd, I have had two VF1’s now and both do the multiple press when scanning for inputs in FS2020, Huddison and Sim Hangar on YT also show it.
Odd ![]()
I think this shall wait. Too many issues.
RE: No Velocity Flight-Yoke in game, only the ‘Qaud’…Had the exact same ‘issue’ with my ‘replacement-unit’ .. and have discovered the ‘fix’ (in my case anyway) .. I needed to change the ‘x-box-gaming-device’ device Driver (in Windows), from x-box-gaming to ‘usb-input-device’ , from the ‘select-driver from a list’ (in windows device manager ..update driver) .. it then showed up in MSFS properly with Yoke & Quadrant .. everything works .. mostly .. hope this helps someone else
Hi, how did you find usb input device? Followed your steps but it only shows usb input device as available.
