Very few wind turbines in Northern California?

I’m flying down the west coast of the US and am currently in Northern California. There are far fewer wind turbines than in Europe or the Far East. Is this the case in real life? If so then I’m very surprised!

Fly out to Mojave and head north. All the turbines are there

In real life, there are a bunch in Oregon and Idaho too. They’re not in the game though. I don’t recall there being too many of them along the Oregon and Northern California coasts in real life. Probably some regulatory issue or some issue with the reliability of suitable winds makes it impractical there.

We keep them inland, more than off the coast. You’ll find wind farms near Tracy, CA (inland from the SF Bay Area) and near Palm Springs CA (inland from Los Angeles) as well as in Oregon and Washington along the Columbia River, mostly on the “dry” eastern side of the Cascade mountain range.
