Very poor GPU frame-time with a 3090

I just bought this game, I dialled everything down to the lowest it would go. I’ve never seen such an ugly mess tbh. I’m still getting very poor frame times with the GPU 20+mil sec.
I’m measuring this through fpsVR & the GPU frame-time graph is constantly in the red. My cpu frame time is in the green at least at the lowest settings.

I’m thinking about refunding but thought maybe this is a bug issue?

You just bought the Sim… Some of us are here from day one last year and we still tuning settings, GPU, etc. to keep or get good results.

What you need with MSFS is first : Patience

And a lot of reading if you got the first thing above.

For a (very) good start with your Index, I suggest:

If you don’t have the patience, then, I’m sorry it’s not for you, but you’re missing something great :sunglasses:

Edit : The sim need a lot of optimization, and Devs work on this.

I have recently purchased a powerful pc and Reverb G2 and am overall disappointed with msfs vr. I play with no ultra, a few high, few middle and some off or low settings and 70oxr and 100taa. I can get 45fps in a non glass cockpit aircraft in a non congested area and down to 10-15 and judderey for a glass cockpit in a PGor conjested area. The immersion is very good of course but I can’t stand the jeckiness when sub 30 fps.

I spend half my time tweaking settings trying to get my optimum setup but this of course changes on where I am and what I’m flying.

I keep reading others having better results with less powerful machines which can be disheartening. My hope is some day hopefully not in the too distant future a major optimisation patch will occur and I can consistently achieve 45fps plus and not spend half my time adjusting settings.

I didn’t have great performance with a 1080ti and VR was “no go” in this sim.

A few updates later and performance was getting worse with the 1080ti even on my 1440p monitor and my 3090 was delivered.

However, I’m not seeing great performance with the 3090 either. Indeed sometimes I wonder if it’s actually worse.
VR a lot more capable (expected with the extra GPU grunt to push those Valve Index pixels) but it’s still not a “comfortable” VR experience.

IL-2 and DCS however absolutely love the 3090 and VR is butter smooth. Much MUCH better performance in pretty much every other title I play.

It’s really just this one title that is super janky for me and I have to play something else from time to time to remind myself that my PC is actually reasonably capable.

Thanks i decided to keep it, the issue in my case was down to one of the settings not saving so was in fact running on ultra AA. Fixing that allowed me to play with the settings. Its still dire but at least more similar to what others are reporting.

Try one of the single engine Cessnas and see if it runs any better. I’m in the same boat as you with a 5600x and 3070.

The sim is maxing out 1 cpu core, the complex aircraft don’t stand a chance in vr.

I had some doubts about vr reading in this forum, about peoble with performance issues, but finally I decided to buy a pc and hp g2, and i cannot be more happy. I fall in love every time I enter in this world. I did not have any issue in performance (at least for me). ok, taking into consideration that I come from psvr and that is not the smoothest experience like half life Alyx, but is 100% enjoyable.
