The problem with this is that you’re not the one planning the flight, so all you have to go by are the instructions of somebody else. Sometimes those instructions suck.
The point of a VFR flight is to use visual clues as to where you are heading…the white line is not a navigation line it is a very loose route drawn on your map…being on the line is not always the best route…fly around 1000 feet off the ground and fly through the valleys to get to the next poi or airport…if the vfr map was fixed and didn’t have such bad iso lines it would be much better. Learn how to use the timer along with your speed to determine where to turn to your next heading…that and visual clues are what make it fun…look for lakes on the vfr map and try to find them to keep you on track…also streams…highways…have fun.
If you lose your white line, you will have to start the last leg that had a white line over…it sucks when you finish an hour long flight without the white line just to find out that all the rest of the legs will be the same…also…without the white line you don’t have the PIO’s on the map either…makes it a little hard to know where to look for them…and that is one of the main points of flying these bush flights. Some of the flights don’t even show the Airport you need to land at on the VFR map. I had to google the airport to find out where the grass strip was…I have flown a few legs without the white line and the challenge was fun too, but I have gone back and reflown all of them with the line just to see the POI’s. Now the logging of the flights needs to be fixed…it logs them without any time flown…
Still having this issue. I did seem to get “a” plan back, but the POI’s on the nav do not match the plan on the inset map. Would be nice to know if Asobo acknowledge this and plan to fix. I know the point of a VFR is to fly yourself from landmarks but then also the point of a plan is supposed to be correct.
And yes, it does seem to be at the point where you quit progress.
I’m currently doing the Nevada bush trip, and the workaround is what was advised earlier in this thread, that you first have to “Continue”, so load in the next leg, and then quit from the pause menu. Do not quit from the “Leg completed” menu screen because the next time you load it up, the route line will not be there. Exiting via the pause menu solves this problem, we just have to be aware of it and not accidentally quit from the completion screen.
Thank you, this worked for me. Just encountered the missing white line today on the Pategonia bush trip (near the end too). Lifesaver.
Same here. Also, the airports do not LOOK like the photos on the nav log. EXTREMELY frustrating. ALSO, it would be nice for the NAVLOG to instruct on how to get fuel along the way. I’ve ran out of gas a few times and have had to restart that same leg.
