- vision jet full throttle AT is off But I am still flying slow
You’re probably airborne by now and at high altitude. The FADEC is telling you that you’re at Maximum Thrust (Blue T symbol on the dial arc). What’s missing here is a picture of your Indicated and True Airspeeds on the PFD. You’re probably anywhere from 290-300 Knots True (TAS) - check lower left of the PFD. That’s about as max speed as the jet gets.
If so, TLDR all is normal.
my air speed never goes above 150. and its always stuck in take off mode at and the thrust never goes above 30%
I watched a youtube video and he says
turn on flc and it changes from take off to climb but if i try that it wont let me click it
and watching his video his plane is at 60% even in take off mode when im stuck at 32%
i always start my plane on the runway so its already been turned on for me by the game and i just go full throttle for take off, i didnt change any of the planes settings
The MFD top left is showing the Ground Speed. It looks like GS 305 kts. That would mean you’ve got 150 kt tailwind if your true airspeed is only 150 kts. Not impossible but highly unlikely.
I’ve flown the VJ since the auto speed adjustment and it worked as advertised both cold and dark and starting from the runway.
I strongly recommend this video from Stretch. He’s one of our real life Owner/Operators and helped us develop and test the jet in FS2020.
Again, we’d need to see the PFD and understand you altitude, wind and other factors.
i watched the video
he does the same as the video i linked earlier does but when i try and do that nothing happens and im stuck flying at low thrust
I suggest uninstalling the airplane, emptying the community folder completely, reinstalling the airplane and then reporting what happens.
Thrust is not power. At high altitude, full power will only yield around 30% thrust.
Indicated airspeed is not true airspeed. At high altitude, indicated airspeed will read much lower than true airspeed.
Your airplane is working fine.
It sounds like the plane is working fine, you have nothing to worry about.
Indicated airspeed (“IAS”) is based on air pressure, and the higher you go in altitude, the lower it reads compared to your true airspeed (“TAS”) – that’s why there’s a secondary readout for TAS on the primary display, so you know both IAS (which helps you tell how fast you should go to avoid stalls or overspeed damage) and TAS (which tells you how fast you’re moving against the air, neat!).
Ground speed (“GS”) can also be measured by GPS, and in your screenshot appears to be 305 knots which indicates you’re probably going at full cruise speed for the Vision jet.
An IAS of ~150 at high altitude sounds normal and correct at cruise altitude (eg 20-31k ft) for a jet of this speed. Having the thrust read lower than full is also correct, for the same reason – at altitude there’s less air, so you get less combustion and less mass ejected from the engine to produce thrust. Thus, max thrust at altitude is lower than the max thrust at sea level. But you also have less air to drag against, so you still go fast.
The engine readout is showing you thrust and includes the readout for max thrust, which is that little blue tick mark. You can see you’re at max thrust in your screenshot.
For future reference, when taking a screenshot for help be sure to include the prrimary instruments, most importantly:
- airspeed indicator
- altimeter
which are cropped off in this image, but we can estimate them based on your description.
im describing whats happening in the video vs what im seeing in the game and there is a big difference in speed
in the video he goes above 30% thrust but im stuck on 30% and it doesnt go faster
but its because of my flight lvl mode but like i said i tried to press the button but it wont let me do it
Can you provide photos at a lower altitude with the PFD visible as well?
The photos you’ve provided don’t show the issue you’re describing as many have pointed out.
At sea level you can go to much higher thrust than at altitude. This is normal.
IAS and TAS are also closer together near sea level than at altitude, which means flying at similar TAS will give a larger IAS at low altitude than at high altitude. This is normal.
I strongly recommend doing some general reading or tutorials on flight simulation and the details of how flight works; if you don’t understand how altitude affects thrust and indicated airspeed, you’re going to have a bad time.
As you can see in your video at around 35:00 the thrust is down to 45% at 24000ft (at takeoff it was higher because of the lower altitude). @RISCfuture and @Vibstronium already gave the reasons for that, but I’ll try to explain again: The higher you fly, the less air density there is. As IAS (indicated air speed) is determined by air pressure, you will get lower values at higher altitude, while still flying the same speed over ground (neglecting wind speed). So if you fly really high, your IAS seems to be slow, but in reality you aren’t. This is where TAS (true air speed) comes in, this is IAS corrected to your altitude (and temperature), so it will give you speed relative to the surrounding air, independent of air density. This is what you should check when flying at cruise altitude, not IAS or CAS (calibrated air speed, which just corrects instrument errors, but not air density).
The same goes for thrust, it will decrease when you fly higher, as the air is thinner. But because of the thinner air you have less air resistance and will still fly faster with less thrust. Your N1 and N2 are around 100%, which is the indicator for your power. So you have still full power, only the resulting thrust is less because of the thinner air.
The ground speed on the MFD also indicates that everything is fine, 305kn is around the cruise speed of the vision jet. So it seems you just look at the wrong values too determine your performance, but to really say that for sure we would need (as already mentioned) a screen of your PFD to get altitude, IAS and TAS.
very slow and i know changing the flight level makes it go faster because i just watched it in the video
but for me i cant press it and its set to OFF
this is after i have the gamestart the plane and i just do a take off
heres the speed limit i see and it is so low because im stuck on take off thrust and i want to turn that off
I wouldn’t do that at all.
That band on the left is the IAS, as explained that does not show your true speed in higher altitude. TAS is at the lower left of the PFD, unfortunately you did not include that in your screen. But if I read the Mach number correctly, you’re at .493, which gives around 280kn TAS, much higher than the 196kn IAS.
You can’t enable it because you haven’t selected an altitude to Flight Level Change to
You should consider looking up a basic course in how to fly a Garmin equipped aircraft. There are many introductory videos to that effect. Jumping into the Vision Jet without that is just going to be very frustrating.
As others have said you need to use the Alt Sel knob to set an altitude different to your current altitude. The selected altitude you’ve set will show at the top of the altitude tape on the PFD. Then you can use FLC to change to that altitude. You’ll need to have the AP engaged as well of course.
The photos of the PFD you’ve provided both have a magenta line on the right of the speed tape indicating you’re still accelerating so there’s nothing wrong with the performance you’re getting.
Asking questions is a great way to learn but thinking that there’s something wrong with the VJ is holding you back. Accept that the a/c is functioning correctly and direct your effort into learning how to operate it correctly. It’ll be worth the effort.
