This has been corrected in the current Beta. Happy Days!
Seriously???
Yes it isā¦
Also for me, I have to switch in the audio option the peripheral to have finally the sound in the Hp reverb G 2.
Mine has been working since the SU12 beta.
I used to have this issue before SU12. Now I hear no sound whatsoever in VR except for cockpit avionics sounds (beeps). No sounds heard in the main screen either. I am using Index.
Update: Looks like the sound comes on if I switch active spatial sound feature off. No sound at all with active spatial sound on.
Try to select your VRsound device in Sound-> MainDeviceOutput and CommunicationDeviceOutput. Apply&Save and restart MSFS. Your VRsound device must be available before starting the sim. You will have MSFS sounds and music only in your headset even in flatscreen mode.
None of the above work for me for getting sound to work.
While it was very common to lose all sound after leaving VR prior to SU12, that does appear to be fixed as per the patch notes. With SU12, I now have the new problem of no sound in my headset when launching into VR. Which makes VR suddenly very āunimmersiveā.
It does not seem to matter if my headset is powered and connected prior to launching MSFS. If I edit the volume control (system tray icon) in Windows I hear confirmation of the new volume with the ābrrrringā sound in my headset, but MSFS always plays via the original audio output it launched with. No matter if I explicitly choose the USB2.0 audio of my headset in the Sound menu. If I drop out of VR then all the regular sounds play in my headset of WMR starting up and the cliff house etc.
Think itās worth a new thread but Iāve no time to write up a full bug report as itās 1am and I should be asleep an hour ago!
I had exactly the same problem with my HP G2 after SU12.
Select your USB 2.0 device in Sound-> MainDeviceOutput and CommunicationDeviceOutput. Apply&Save and RESTART MSFS and WMR. You will hear no sound without restarting. Restart windows.
Launch WMR. WMR portal MUST be running before starting the sim or you will get DefaulAudio again!
Many thanks. I can confirm that it works as long as WMR is running before the game starts. The in-game Sound menu then allows switching manually between audio sources (if required).
As a user who usually sets up my flight controls and plugs in my VR headset (if at all - depends on mood) during the loading time of the sim or after it reaches the menu, this is a little frustrating as I have to decide/prepare before launching the game. Also, that the gameās audio no longer āfollowsā the system audio like it did before, meaning the visuals and the audio both switched between VR and desktop together, is a shame. I hope it will return one dayā¦
